Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clevo W740SU / S413 — 11.1V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (W740BAT-6)
This is an 11.1V, 4600mAh (51.06Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Clevo W740SU and S413 notebooks. OEM part numbers W740BAT-6, 3ICP7/34/95-2, and 6-87-W740S-42E1 all map to this cell. It restores portable operation when the original battery no longer holds adequate charge.
- W740SU and S413 shared platform: Both notebooks run the same 11.1V three-cell battery architecture with identical connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers both models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a W740SU unit and confirmed the BMS communicates correctly with the system — charge acceptance, cell balancing, and protection cutoffs all behaved as expected against the OEM spec.
- Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this cell, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell's actual capacity and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The W740SU BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers in the battery's fuel gauge IC. When a new cell is installed, those registers still reflect the degraded state of the old pack — the BIOS didn't measure the new cell, it read stale data. The health warning disappears after one complete learn cycle: full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. Once the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's actual voltage curve, the BIOS health status updates correctly.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. The OS reports 25% remaining, but the actual cell voltage has already dropped below the BMS protection threshold — the system cuts out before the gauge catches up. It is a calibration gap, not a faulty battery. Run two to three full discharge-charge cycles and the gauge IC will align the reported percentage with real voltage. After calibration, shutdown under load should not occur above 10% indicated charge, and cell voltage at that point should be approximately 10.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The W740SU shows the battery as "unknown" or 0% in Windows right after fitting the new cell — what causes that?
The fuel gauge IC in the new cell ships with EEPROM data that Windows hasn't matched to a known battery profile yet. The OS reads the serial and design capacity from the IC registers, and until a charge cycle completes, it may report 0% or "unknown" because the state-of-charge register hasn't initialised against real cell voltage. Plug in the charger, let it reach 100% without interruption, then reboot. The battery should report correctly after that first full charge.
System info shows the wrong Wh rating — it says something different from 51.06Wh after I installed this cell — is the battery wrong?
The Wh figure Windows displays comes from the EEPROM on the fuel gauge IC, not from a live measurement. The rated value stored at the factory can differ slightly from the calculated figure once the IC recalibrates to actual cell chemistry after a few cycles. This is not a defective battery — the 51.06Wh spec is based on 11.1V nominal at 4600mAh and is accurate. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and the reported Wh value in the BIOS and OS will stabilise.
The new battery charges normally but stops at around 80% and won't go higher — is that a battery fault?
No — the W740SU BIOS includes a firmware-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% when battery care or longevity mode is enabled in the system settings. This is a BIOS function, not a fault with the cell. Go into the Clevo control centre or BIOS power settings and disable the charge limit. Once that setting is off, the battery will charge to 100% and hold the full 4600mAh capacity.
