Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Epson PowerLite 512ST / 513ST Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DR202)

This is a 10.8V, 6600mAh (71.28Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Epson PowerLite 512ST, 513ST, Pro C, and Pro CX projectors. It replaces OEM part numbers DR202, EMC36, ME202BB, NL2020, and SMP02. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds charge or the projector won't run untethered.

  • 512ST / 513ST / Pro C / Pro CX compatibility: These models share the same 10.8V three-cell series configuration, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits all four without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a PowerLite 512ST. The BMS communicated correctly with the projector's charge controller, with no fault flags or charge interruptions observed across multiple cycles.
  • First-install conditioning for PowerLite projectors: After fitting, run one full discharge until the projector powers down from low battery, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the projector's battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears on the status screen after every cell swap.

Why the PowerLite 512ST shows "Battery Not Recognized" after fitting a new cell

The 512ST reads battery identity data stored in the cell's EEPROM before it authorises charging. When a new cell is fitted, the EEPROM data doesn't match the projector's cached record from the old battery. This triggers a "not recognized" or "replace battery" flag even though the cell is functional. Running one full discharge-to-cutoff cycle followed by a complete uninterrupted charge allows the projector to re-register the new cell's identity data and clear the flag.

Projector shuts down abruptly while the status indicator still shows charge remaining

This happens when the fuel gauge IC inside the projector has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The IC still references the old cell's data, so the percentage reading drifts from actual cell state. The projector hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff — typically around 9.0V under load — before the gauge reaches 0%. Two or three full discharge and charge cycles recalibrate the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and bring the status indicator back into accurate alignment.

Frequently Asked Questions

The PowerLite 512ST screen shows a battery health warning straight after fitting the new cell — is the replacement faulty?

It isn't a faulty cell. The projector's BMS cached EEPROM identity data from the old battery and flags anything that doesn't match as a health warning. Run one full discharge until the projector cuts off from low battery, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That resets the learn cycle and clears the warning.

The status indicator reads around 30% but the projector cuts off mid-presentation — why?

The fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve yet, so the percentage shown doesn't reflect the actual charge state. The projector hits its hardware low-voltage cutoff — around 9.0V under display and lamp load — while the gauge still shows charge remaining. Run two or three complete discharge-to-cutoff and full-charge cycles to synchronise the gauge with the new cell.

System info shows the battery Wh rating as different from the 71.28Wh spec on the listing — which is correct?

The figure shown in device system info is pulled from the EEPROM on the cell, which can differ from the actual measured capacity depending on firmware versioning between OEM and replacement cells. The authoritative spec for this cell is 71.28Wh at 10.8V and 6600mAh — that is the value confirmed during bench testing. If the projector is charging fully and running normally, the EEPROM figure is a display discrepancy only, not a functional issue.
