Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Dragonfly Folio G3 — 7.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (UR04XL)
This is a 7.7V, 6600mAh (50.82Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the HP Dragonfly Folio G3, Dragonfly Folio G3 2-in-1, Dragonfly Folio G3 13.5 inch, and Elite Dragonfly Folio G3 convertible notebooks. It replaces part numbers UR04XL, UR04053XL, M90785-2C1, M90785-2D1, M90788-005, TPN-DB1G, and TPN-DB1GM. If your original cell no longer holds charge or your system flags battery health as poor, this cell matches the OEM voltage rail and connector spec.
- Folio G3 platform compatibility: The Dragonfly Folio G3 lineup — including the standard, 2-in-1, and 13.5-inch Elite variants — all share the same 7.7V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits across the entire family without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Folio G3 platform. The BMS completed authentication, reported correct Wh capacity in HP Support Assistant, and held stable voltage through a full CPU-plus-display load cycle without triggering premature cutoff.
- Post-install calibration on the Folio G3: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate-cutoff under normal use — do not force shutdown — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after fitting a new cell
The HP BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM, which stores cycle count and wear history from the old cell. When a new cell is installed, the BIOS may still display a poor health flag or a red battery warning because it hasn't yet completed a learn cycle against the new chemistry. This is a firmware state, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate then a full uninterrupted charge — the BIOS updates its learn cycle data and the warning clears.
Fuel gauge jumping or reading incorrectly for the first few charge cycles
The fuel gauge IC on the Folio G3 builds its capacity model by tracking charge and discharge curves against the installed cell. A brand-new cell has no curve history, so the gauge estimates capacity using stale data from the old battery — this causes percentage jumps and early low-battery warnings. The gauge recalibrates progressively across two to three full discharge-recharge cycles. After the third full cycle, the percentage readout tracks within normal tolerance at the correct 50.82Wh baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions
HP Support Assistant is showing the new battery as 0% health and flagging it for replacement — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. HP Support Assistant reads health data from the battery EEPROM, and a fresh cell has no cycle history loaded yet, so the system defaults to a poor or 0% health flag. Run the laptop down to hibernate-cutoff under normal load, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single learn cycle writes current capacity data to the EEPROM and clears the health warning.
The Dragonfly Folio G3 shuts down abruptly when the gauge shows around 20–25% remaining — why?
This is a voltage cliff failure. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge can track — the system hits the low-voltage cutoff threshold before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The gauge IC hasn't fully calibrated its discharge curve against the new cell yet. Run two to three complete discharge-to-hibernate cycles and the gauge will map the curve accurately, moving the shutdown point back to the correct 0–5% range.
Windows is showing the Folio G3 battery capacity as a lower Wh figure than the 50.82Wh rated spec — is that expected?
The Wh figure Windows reports comes from the battery EEPROM's rated capacity field, which the fuel gauge IC updates as it learns the actual discharge curve. On a new cell with no cycle history, the reported figure often reads lower until calibration cycles complete. After two to three full discharge-recharge cycles, the reported Wh value will converge to the actual 50.82Wh rating. If it remains significantly low after five cycles, check BIOS battery settings to confirm no charge limit is active.
