Shinelon A40D Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 14.8V, 2600mAh (38.48Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Shinelon A40D-series laptops. It fits the A40D-345HN, A40D-541HD, A40D-545HN, A40D-741HD, and at least ten additional A40D variants. When the original cell degrades and the laptop loses portable power, this replaces it.

  • A40D platform compatibility: All listed A40D variants share the same 14.8V four-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell SKU covers the full line because the voltage rail and charge circuit are identical across those configurations.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, full load discharge, and BMS fault recovery on the A40D platform. The protection circuit responded correctly at both low-voltage cutoff and over-temperature thresholds, with no false-trip events during sustained CPU and display load.
  • Post-install calibration on the A40D: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before using the laptop again. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the firmware flags automatically after every cell swap.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after installation

The A40D BIOS reads health data from EEPROM stored by the previous cell. When a new cell is installed, that stored data does not match the new cell's profile, so the firmware flags it as degraded. This is a firmware read issue, not a cell defect. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% triggers the BIOS learn cycle and rewrites the health register. After one or two complete cycles, the health status clears.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The OS displays a percentage based on stale data, but the cell voltage drops below the sustainable threshold under full CPU and display load before that percentage reaches zero. The BMS cuts power to protect the cell — the shutdown is correct, the percentage readout is wrong. Run two to three full discharge and charge cycles so the fuel gauge IC can map the new cell's voltage profile accurately.

My Shinelon A40D shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and won't move off zero — what's wrong?

The BIOS is reading EEPROM data written by the old cell and hasn't accepted the new cell's identity yet. This is not a charging fault. Leave the laptop plugged in for a full uninterrupted charge, then let it discharge completely to hibernate-cutoff. After that first full cycle completes, the BIOS learn cycle rewrites the register and the percentage display corrects itself.

The battery info in Windows shows the wrong Wh rating — it says something different from the 38.48Wh spec on the listing. Is the cell mislabelled?

The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the EEPROM on the cell, which carries the rated design capacity from the cell manufacturer — that value can differ slightly from the measured actual capacity under real load conditions. The 38.48Wh in the product listing reflects the actual tested output. The discrepancy is a data-source difference, not a fault. After two calibration cycles, the reported full-charge capacity in Windows will settle closer to the real figure.

The A40D stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — did I get a defective cell?

This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Many Shinelon laptops ship with a battery protection setting in the firmware that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear during AC-primary use. Check the power management settings in the BIOS setup menu — look for a "Battery Charge Threshold" or "Battery Saver" option and set the upper limit to 100%.
