3.7V 3400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 12.58Wh to sustain full transaction cycles on payment terminals without mid-sale power loss.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with the contact pins facing the terminal; locking tab seats flush against the housing wall.
We cycled this cell on an IWE280 under simulated transaction load; BMS accepted the new pack after one boot sequence without handshake delay.
After installation, run one complete transaction cycle—tender through receipt—before live deployment so the terminal calibrates its charge indicator correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ingenico IWL220 / IWE280 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (295006044)

This is a 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Ingenico IWE280 and IWL220 series portable payment terminals. It fits the iWL220 GPRS, iWL250, and over a dozen related models sharing the same battery bay and connector. Capacity is 12.58Wh, matching the original cell specification.

  • IWL220 and IWE280 platform compatibility: These terminals share a common battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the iWL220, iWL220 GPRS, iWL250, and IWE280 variants — the same cell fits all of them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the IWL220 platform. The BMS accepted the cell handshake on first boot, charge IC entered top-off mode correctly, and the terminal reported state-of-charge without prompting a service flag.
  • First deployment cycle: After installing this battery, run one complete transaction cycle — including a receipt print — before putting the terminal into live service. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one full power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator accurately.

Receipt printer causing unexpected battery drain on IWL220

The thermal printer in the iWL220 series draws a sharp current spike — typically 1.5A or more — at the moment it fires the print head. On a degraded original battery, that spike causes the BMS to register an overcurrent event and throttle output. A new cell with full capacity handles the combined display, wireless, and printer load without triggering that threshold. If drain still seems high after swap, check that the terminal is not sitting in continuous polling mode on a weak GPRS signal, which adds a persistent background draw.

Terminal stuck on boot screen after new battery installed

The IWL220 and IWE280 run a PCI security boot sequence that requires stable voltage throughout. If the BMS handshake has not completed its first initialisation cycle, the terminal may stall on the boot screen or restart before reaching the home menu. This is not a faulty battery — it is the BMS and charge IC negotiating on a fresh cell. Connect the terminal to its dock or charger, let it reach a full charge from the new cell, then power cycle it. After one complete charge cycle the boot sequence completes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My IWL220 reboots every time a receipt prints — is that the battery?

Yes, this is the most common sign of a battery that can no longer handle the printer's current spike. The thermal print head draws a sharp load that trips the BMS overcurrent protection on a weak cell, cutting power momentarily and forcing a reboot. This replacement cell is rated to handle the combined printer, display, and wireless draw without hitting that threshold. Install the battery, run a full charge cycle, then test with a printed transaction before deploying.

The terminal won't power on at all after sitting in a drawer for several months — is it recoverable?

A terminal left unused for months can drain the cell below the BMS recovery threshold, typically under 2.5V, at which point the BMS locks the output to protect the cell and the terminal shows no signs of life. The original battery at that state is not recoverable. Fit this replacement, connect immediately to the charging dock, and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge before attempting to power on — do not press the power button during the first charge cycle.

Why is the battery indicator stuck at 99% for the first hour after installation?

This is normal behaviour on a new cell. The charge IC enters top-off mode when the cell voltage approaches full charge, delivering a low trickle current that can take 30–60 minutes to push the indicator from 99% to 100%. The terminal has not malfunctioned and the battery is not defective. Leave it on the dock until the charge IC exits top-off mode and the indicator clears to 100% before removing it.
