The terminal won't power on at all after sitting in a drawer for several months — is it recoverable?
A terminal left unused for months can drain the cell below the BMS recovery threshold, typically under 2.5V, at which point the BMS locks the output to protect the cell and the terminal shows no signs of life. The original battery at that state is not recoverable. Fit this replacement, connect immediately to the charging dock, and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge before attempting to power on — do not press the power button during the first charge cycle.
Why is the battery indicator stuck at 99% for the first hour after installation?
This is normal behaviour on a new cell. The charge IC enters top-off mode when the cell voltage approaches full charge, delivering a low trickle current that can take 30–60 minutes to push the indicator from 99% to 100%.
