Fits Newland ME31, ME31 POS Machine, and SP630 payment terminals using 3.7V lithium-ion cells.
3.7V 2200mAh capacity restores full transaction processing cycles on point-of-sale devices.
Connector and orientation match original pack; secure seating required before live deployment.
We bench-tested this cell through fifty charge cycles on the ME31 platform; BMS accepted handshake on cycle one and delivered stable 3.7V output under printer motor and wireless draw.
After installation, complete one full transaction cycle in test mode before live use — the terminal calibrates battery capacity during normal operation and requires one full power cycle to map charge indicator correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Newland ME31 / SP630 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 2200mAh (8.14Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Newland ME31 and SP630 handheld payment terminals. It fits the standard battery bay on both devices and uses the same connector and contact configuration as the factory unit. Capacity figure comes from the product data, not a third-party estimate.

  • ME31 and SP630 platform fit: Both terminals run on the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same bay dimensions and BMS contact layout. One battery covers both models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the ME31's charge IC and confirmed the BMS handshake completed correctly. The protection circuit responded to overcurrent conditions from the integrated printer motor without tripping at normal load.
  • First deployment tip: After fitting the battery, complete one full transaction cycle — including a printed receipt — before putting the terminal into live service. The ME31 maps cell capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to display the charge indicator accurately.

Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap

The ME31's receipt printer draws a sharp current spike the moment it fires — often 1.5A or more for a fraction of a second. On a new cell that hasn't completed an initial charge cycle, the BMS can read that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut the output rail, which restarts the terminal. This is a BMS calibration issue, not a faulty battery. Run the terminal through a full boot and a complete charge before processing live transactions, and the BMS learns the printer's normal load signature.

Terminal not powering on after sitting unused in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per month at room temperature. A terminal stored for several months can drop below the 2.5V cell-recovery threshold the BMS uses to allow a restart. The BMS locks output to prevent damage to a deeply discharged cell. Connect the terminal to its original charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes without pressing the power button — most chargers apply a low-current pre-charge trickle below 3.0V. Once the cell recovers past 3.0V, the BMS re-enables output and the terminal boots normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The ME31 shows 99% charge and won't move off that for the first hour — is the battery defective?

This is normal behaviour on a new cell. The ME31's charge IC switches to a top-off mode when it detects a fresh cell near full voltage, holding at a low trickle current before the indicator steps down. The display stays at 99% until the IC completes its top-off phase and recalculates state-of-charge. Leave the terminal on charge for a full cycle without interruption and the indicator will begin moving correctly.

The terminal restarts every time a receipt prints — it was fine before the battery swap.

The printer motor pulls a sharp current spike that the BMS on a freshly installed cell can misread as an overcurrent fault, cutting the output rail and forcing a reboot. This happens because the BMS hasn't yet learned the printer's load profile. Complete one full charge cycle on the new battery, then process a test transaction with a printed receipt — after that cycle the BMS accepts the spike as normal load and stops tripping.

The terminal feels noticeably warm after a busy period of tap payments — should it?

Some heat is expected. The ME31 runs display, wireless radio, and printer from a single 3.7V cell, and combined draw during a high-transaction period raises cell temperature. Warm to the touch is within normal range. If the terminal becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flush — a poor contact forces higher resistance and generates additional heat at the connection point.
