Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone Nurit 8040 / 8400 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (84BTWW01D021008006114)
This 7.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the VeriFone Nurit 8040 and Nurit 8400 payment terminals, including the PCI Compliant variant. It matches the OEM voltage rail, physical dimensions (75.40 × 50.30 × 21.70mm), and connector spec needed for the terminal to boot and hold a charge during field operation.
- Nurit 8040 / 8400 / 8400 PCI platform: All three models share the same battery bay geometry, 7.4V supply requirement, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through a full boot sequence on a Nurit 8400 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, the charge IC entered top-off mode at 8.35V, and the terminal completed PCI POST without interruption.
- First-deployment calibration: After fitting this battery, run at least one complete transaction cycle — print a receipt, process a card — before putting the terminal on a live counter. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs that activity to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
Receipt printer causing mid-transaction battery drain on the Nurit 8040
The Nurit 8040's thermal printer motor draws a short but sharp current spike when it fires — often 1.5A to 2A above idle draw. On a degraded original battery, that spike pushes the cell voltage below the BMS low-voltage trip threshold, and the terminal cuts power mid-transaction. A fresh 2200mAh cell with lower internal resistance handles that spike without the voltage sag that triggers the trip. If reboots are happening specifically at the point a receipt prints, the battery is the first thing to rule out.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap
The Nurit 8400 PCI Compliant model runs a security POST at startup that draws sustained current while validating tamper-detection hardware. If the battery was just installed and the cell hasn't gone through a full charge cycle, the charge IC may still be in pre-charge conditioning mode and can't sustain that load cleanly. The terminal stalls or loops at the boot screen. Fix: charge the battery fully until the charge LED goes green, then power the terminal on. Once the cell reaches 8.35V resting voltage, the boot sequence completes normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Nurit 8040 reboots right as it's printing the customer receipt — is this a terminal fault or the battery?
That reboot pattern points to the battery, not the terminal. The thermal printer motor pulls a current spike at the moment it fires, and a weak or aged cell can't hold voltage through that load — the BMS trips and the terminal resets. Swap in a fresh battery, charge it fully, and test by processing a transaction through to receipt print. If the reboot stops, the original battery was the cause.
The new battery is installed and fully charged, but the Nurit 8400 is stuck looping at the boot screen — what's happening?
The Nurit 8400 runs a PCI security check during POST that draws sustained current. If the battery hasn't completed its first full charge cycle, the charge IC may still be conditioning the cell and can't deliver the required current cleanly. Remove the battery, let it charge until the terminal's charge indicator shows full (cell resting around 8.35V), then reinsert and power on. The POST sequence should complete without looping.
The Nurit 8040 won't power on at all after sitting unused in a stockroom for several months — is the battery recoverable?
Extended storage causes Li-ion cells to self-discharge, and if the cell voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell (5.0V for a 2S pack), the BMS locks out to prevent damage — the terminal won't respond to the power button. Connect the terminal to its charger and leave it for at least 30 to 60 minutes without pressing anything. Most chargers include a recovery trickle-charge mode that slowly brings the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the charge LED comes on and stays solid, the cell is recovering — continue charging to full before booting.
