Fits VeriFone Nurit 2085U and 2090 payment terminals, replaces OEM battery part numbers BAT00023 and 150AAM6BMX.
7.2V, 1500mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained power for wireless transactions and receipt printing without mid-cycle sag.
Connector attaches vertically to the battery slot; locking tab seats flush with the terminal housing after full insertion.
We ran a full transaction cycle on the bench — BMS accepted the cell without fault code, voltage held steady under printer motor load.
After installation, run one complete transaction cycle in test mode before live deployment; the terminal calibrates its charge indicator during normal operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone Nurit 2085U / 2090 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BAT00023)

This is a 7.2V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the VeriFone Nurit 2085U and Nurit 2090 wireless payment terminals. It replaces OEM part numbers BAT00023 and 150AAM6BMX. The Nurit 2085U is a portable POS terminal used by merchants in the field for credit card transactions.

  • Nurit 2085U and 2090 compatibility: Both terminals share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, so a single cell covers both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through the Nurit 2085U boot sequence and a full transaction cycle. The BMS accepted the handshake on first boot and the charge IC moved out of trickle mode after one complete cycle.
  • First deployment tip for POS terminals: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before taking the terminal into a live environment. The Nurit maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.

Terminal rebooting mid-transaction after a battery swap

The Nurit 2085U draws a combined load from the wireless radio, receipt printer motor, and backlit display during a transaction. On a new Ni-MH cell, the BMS protection threshold is tighter until the cell completes its first few charge-discharge cycles. A printer motor start spike can momentarily push current draw past the BMS trip point, cutting power mid-transaction. Run the terminal through three to five complete transaction cycles off-peak to condition the cell and allow the BMS to settle at its normal operating threshold.

Terminal will not power on after sitting unused in a drawer

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–3% per day. A Nurit 2085U left in storage for several weeks can arrive with a cell voltage too low for the BMS to permit startup — the terminal shows nothing when the power button is pressed. Connect the terminal to the dock charger and leave it for a full charge cycle without interrupting it. If voltage recovers above the BMS recovery threshold (approximately 5.4V for this 6-cell pack), the terminal will boot normally on the next power attempt.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nurit 2085U keeps rebooting every time the receipt prints — is this a battery problem?

Yes, the receipt printer motor draws a short current spike at the start of each print cycle. On a new Ni-MH cell that hasn't completed its first few cycles, the BMS can trip on that spike and cut power. Run the terminal through five complete transaction cycles during a quiet period to condition the cell. After that, the BMS trip threshold stabilises and mid-print reboots stop.

The charge indicator on the Nurit 2085U is stuck at 99% and hasn't moved after two hours on the dock — is the battery faulty?

It isn't faulty. The charge IC in the Nurit dock enters a top-off mode when it detects a new Ni-MH cell, holding the indicator near full while it trickle-charges to capacity. This is normal behaviour on the first charge cycle. Dock the terminal overnight, then perform one full transaction cycle — after that the charge IC recalibrates and the indicator tracks correctly.

The Nurit 2090 feels noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — should I be concerned?

Some warmth is expected. The 2090 runs its wireless radio, display, and printer simultaneously under load, and Ni-MH chemistry generates more heat than lithium during sustained high-draw cycles. The terminal becomes a concern only if it is hot to the touch or shuts down with a thermal warning. If you are processing high transaction volumes continuously, allow the terminal a short idle period between runs so the cell temperature drops back to ambient before the next heavy load.
