Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus MyPal A686 / A696 / A626 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SBP-09)

This is a 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-ion cell for the Asus MyPal A686, A696, and A626 pocket PCs. It slots into the battery bay using the original SBP-09 footprint and connector. If your MyPal shuts down mid-task or won't hold a charge, this is the direct swap.

  • A686 / A696 / A626 platform fit: All three MyPal models run the same 3.7V battery rail, share the SBP-09 form factor, and use the same connector pinout — one cell covers the whole family without any mechanical modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on MyPal hardware. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without error flags and held voltage within spec across the full discharge curve.
  • RAM data protection before swap: Sync all open data to your host PC before pulling the battery. The MyPal stores active application state and unsaved files in volatile SRAM — that memory is powered entirely by the main cell. Full power removal clears it instantly.

Why the MyPal A686 loses contacts and calendar entries after a battery change

The A686 uses SRAM for working memory — not flash. SRAM requires continuous power to retain data, and the main Li-ion cell is the only source. The moment that cell is removed, any data not yet synced to a host PC or storage card is gone. This catches users off guard because the behaviour looks like a firmware fault, not a power fault. Before you remove the old battery, run ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center and confirm a full sync has completed.

MyPal shows a charging indicator but won't boot after a new battery is fitted

A deeply depleted Li-ion cell can sit below the minimum boot voltage even after a short charge — the device draws power but the CPU never gets enough to start the boot sequence. This is not a faulty battery. Leave the unit on charge for at least 60 minutes before pressing the power button. If the charge LED is solid and the unit still won't boot, perform a hard reset by holding the reset pin for 10 seconds, then attempt boot with the charger still connected.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MyPal A686 wiped all my contacts when I swapped the battery — is this normal?

Yes, and the cause is the SRAM architecture, not a fault with the new cell. The A686 holds contacts, calendar, and open app state in volatile SRAM, which loses everything the instant main power is cut. Before any future battery swap, connect to a PC and run a full ActiveSync sync — confirm the sync completed before you remove the cell.

The MyPal A696 charges fine with the new battery but the wireless sync keeps dropping — what's happening?

The Wi-Fi radio on the A696 is voltage-sensitive and draws a sharp current spike when it initialises a connection. If the new cell hasn't been fully charged yet, voltage sags under that load and the radio resets mid-sync. Charge the battery to full before attempting a wireless sync — check that the charge indicator shows a complete cycle before you connect.

I fitted a new SBP-09 cell but the MyPal A626 shows a lower battery percentage than expected right after first charge — is the capacity wrong?

A fresh Li-ion cell often reads conservatively on the first cycle because the fuel gauge in the device hasn't calibrated to the new cell's actual capacity. Run the battery down to the low-battery warning, then charge it uninterrupted to full. After one full discharge-to-charge cycle, the percentage reading should stabilise and reflect the rated 1300mAh capacity accurately.
