This is a 3.7V 2200mAh Li-ion battery for the Typhoon MyGuide 5500 and MyGuide 5500XL portable GPS navigation devices. It replaces OEM part numbers 029521-83159-7 and B521103. The cell fits the original battery bay with no modification and reconnects to the device BMS via the stock connector.
- MyGuide 5500 and 5500XL compatibility: Both models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, battery bay dimensions (67.89 × 52.40 × 5.52mm), and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both variants without any firmware or connector difference.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the MyGuide 5500 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge curve without triggering a protection cutoff. The device registered battery presence correctly on first boot after installation.

This happens when the replacement cell ships at storage charge — typically 30–40% — below the minimum threshold the boot sequence needs to initialise the GPS module and display. The device draws more current at startup than during idle navigation, so a partially charged cell can pass trickle charge detection but still fail to sustain boot. Connect the device to the charger for at least 90 minutes before attempting to power on. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.9V, the boot sequence completes normally.
