Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ABB IRB 910SC Series — 3.6V Li-SOCl2 Replacement Battery (3HAC051036-001)
This 3.6V Li-SOCl2 cell at 7000mAh (25.2Wh) is the backup battery for the ABB IRB 910SC and IRB 1200 robot controller PLC systems. It holds SRAM program memory and keeps the real-time clock alive during power outages and planned maintenance shutdowns. Without a live cell, a mains loss event can wipe the controller's program entirely.
- IRB 910SC and IRB 1200 controller fit: Both platforms share the same battery tray geometry, 3.6V nominal rail, and BMS handshake through the ABB IRC5 Compact controller board. The same cell services the memory retention circuit across these robot families because the SRAM backup draw and cutoff thresholds are identical.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the controller's float charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted it without a forced reset. Open-circuit voltage on arrival measured 3.65V. The controller cleared the low-battery alarm within one full power cycle after installation.
- Hot-swap procedure — mandatory for this controller: Always replace this cell with the IRB controller fully powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the battery while the controller is powered off causes immediate SRAM loss. If the swap was done cold, a full program reload from TrueConnect or RobotStudio is required before the robot can resume operation.
Why the IRB 910SC loses its program memory after a battery swap
The ABB IRC5 Compact controller relies on this Li-SOCl2 cell as the sole power source for SRAM retention when mains power is removed. The moment the cell is disconnected and no mains supply is present, the SRAM loses its hold voltage and the program evaporates in under a second. This is not a fault in the new cell — it is a sequence error during the swap. Always keep the controller energised and in RUN mode while changing the battery, and the SRAM content is preserved without interruption.
Battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation
The ABB controller does not auto-clear a low-battery alarm when a new cell is fitted — the fault latch must be reset manually inside RobotStudio or via the FlexPendant event log. A fresh Li-SOCl2 cell also ships at a storage voltage slightly below its rated 3.6V; the controller may hold the alarm until the cell stabilises on the float circuit, which typically takes two to four hours of powered operation. If the alarm persists beyond four hours, navigate to the Event Log on the FlexPendant, confirm the battery voltage reads above 3.5V, and manually acknowledge the low-battery event to clear it.

Frequently Asked Questions
The IRB 910SC lost its entire program after we swapped the battery — is the program gone for good?
The program is gone from SRAM but not permanently lost if you have a backup copy. This happens when the old cell is removed while the controller is powered off — SRAM has no hold voltage and wipes instantly. Reload the program from RobotStudio or your most recent backup file via the USB port on the controller front panel. Going forward, always perform the battery swap with the controller powered on and in RUN mode to prevent this.
The new cell is reading 3.52V on a multimeter — is it underspec or faulty?
Li-SOCl2 cells ship in a passivation state and arrive slightly below their rated open-circuit voltage. This is normal storage behaviour, not a defective cell. Once installed and sitting on the controller's float charge circuit for two to four hours, the voltage will rise and stabilise above 3.6V. If it has not reached 3.5V after six hours on a powered controller, check the battery connector seating before concluding the cell is faulty.
Our IRB 910SC battery is depleting noticeably faster than the previous cycle — what changed?
Li-SOCl2 self-discharge rate roughly doubles for every 10°C above 20°C. If the controller cabinet runs warmer than before — due to a failed enclosure fan, a new nearby heat source, or a relocated installation — the cell will drain faster between maintenance intervals. Check the cabinet internal temperature against ABB's recommended operating range for the IRC5 Compact. If the ambient inside the enclosure exceeds 40°C, move to a shorter battery inspection interval and address the ventilation issue first.
