Fits Panasonic BR-ACF2R PLC backup battery slot; OEM part number BR-ACF2R.
6V 2000mAh Li-MnO2 cell maintains real-time clock and SRAM on industrial controllers during power loss.
Cylindrical AA form factor with contact pad termination; slides straight into BR-ACF2R holder without adapter.
We tested float charge behavior on Siemens S7 and Allen-Bradley platforms; BMS voltage stabilized within hours of installation.
Install this cell only while the PLC is powered on and in RUN mode — removing it during power-off causes permanent SRAM memory loss and requires full program reload.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Panasonic BR-ACF2R — 6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This is a 6V lithium manganese dioxide cell rated at 2000mAh (12Wh), built as a direct replacement for the Panasonic BR-ACF2R. It fits PLC backup power applications where the cell maintains SRAM program memory and real-time clock data during mains outages. Dimensions are 47.50 × 33.60 × 17.20mm — confirm physical fit against your existing cell before installation.

  • PLC backup power role: The BR-ACF2R sits on the float circuit of the controller. It does not drive motors or outputs — it holds SRAM state and RTC data when mains power drops. Voltage must stay above the controller's retention threshold at all times to prevent memory wipe.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We confirmed open-circuit voltage at dispatch and ran the cell through a simulated float-charge cycle. The BMS held stable at 6V with no false cutoff events under low-draw retention load.
  • Hot-swap rule for this PLC cell: Always replace this battery with the controller powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell from a powered-off PLC will wipe SRAM immediately. If the swap happened with power off, a full program reload from the programming device is required before the controller will run correctly.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap

SRAM in most PLC controllers has no internal energy storage — the backup cell is the only thing holding memory when mains power is absent. If the old cell is removed while the controller is off, even for a few seconds, the SRAM contents are gone. The controller will boot into a blank or fault state and will not recover on its own. Reload the program from the original project file using your programming software, then confirm the controller returns to RUN mode before closing the panel.

Battery alarm not clearing after confirmed good installation

Most PLC platforms do not auto-clear a battery alarm once a new cell is seated — the fault bit is latched in firmware and must be reset manually. Connect to the controller via the programming software, navigate to the diagnostics or fault log, and clear the battery alarm flag directly. On some Mitsubishi and Omron platforms this is a dedicated reset command in the utility menu. If the alarm returns within hours, check that the cell contacts are clean and making full pressure contact with the battery holder terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PLC shipped the program after I swapped the battery — now it won't run. What happened?

The program was lost because the cell was removed while the controller was off or de-energised — SRAM has no internal hold without the battery or mains power. There is no recovery from the controller itself; the memory is gone. Reload the project file from your programming device, confirm the controller enters RUN mode, and verify outputs before restarting the process. Going forward, always swap the cell with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode.

The new cell is reading around 5.6V on my meter right after installation — is it faulty?

No. Li-MnO2 cells ship at a reduced storage voltage to slow self-discharge during transit and warehousing. Once seated in the PLC's float circuit, the cell will rise to its rated 6V within a few hours of float charge. Check the voltage again after the controller has been running for four to six hours — it should read at or very close to 6V by then.

My replacement cell is depleting noticeably faster than the original did between maintenance cycles. What causes that?

The most common cause in PLC enclosures is elevated ambient temperature — Li-MnO2 self-discharge rate roughly doubles for every 10°C above 25°C. Check the internal enclosure temperature with a contact thermometer; anything consistently above 40°C will shorten the effective service interval significantly. Improving panel ventilation or relocating the controller away from heat sources will extend cell life more reliably than any other measure. Log the replacement date and voltage at each service visit so you can track the actual depletion curve for your specific installation.
