Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TSC Alpha 3R — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A3R-52048001)
This 7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM unit in the TSC Alpha 3R mobile thermal printer. It fits the Alpha 3R directly using the original part number A3R-52048001. The Alpha 3R is used in retail, logistics, and field service for printing labels and receipts on the move.
- Alpha 3R platform fit: The Alpha 3R uses a single-cell 7.4V Li-ion pack with a dedicated BMS handshake that controls both the thermal print head and paper feed motor. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector configuration so the printer's power management logic recognises the pack correctly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through full charge and discharge cycles on an Alpha 3R unit. The BMS negotiated correctly, the thermal head reached operating temperature without voltage sag, and the paper feed motor drew consistent current through the test sequence.
- First-deployment print sequence: After installing, charge fully and print five test receipts before deploying in the field. The Alpha 3R's BMS sets its current profile for the thermal head based on early load draws — skipping this step can cause the printer to underestimate available capacity mid-shift.
Bluetooth dropping mid-job on the Alpha 3R
The Alpha 3R runs its Bluetooth radio on the same 7.4V rail as the thermal head. When battery charge drops below roughly 6.8V under load, the radio doesn't get enough stable voltage to maintain its transmission window. The printer appears connected in the app but drops the job at the point of print. Charge the battery above 7.2V before starting a batch job to keep the radio stable.
Print coming out faded or uneven on a freshly charged battery
The thermal print head needs a steady voltage to hold consistent head temperature across the full print width. If the BMS hasn't calibrated its discharge curve to the new cells, it can allow micro-sags during head activation — visible as faded bands or uneven density across the label. Running five to ten prints after a full charge lets the BMS map the cell's response curve. After that, print density should stabilise across the page.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alpha 3R won't print anything after sitting in a drawer for two months — is the battery dead?
Extended storage below 6.0V can put the Alpha 3R's battery into deep-discharge lockout, where the BMS blocks output to protect the cells. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 90 minutes without interruption — the BMS needs time to trickle-charge the cells back above the recovery threshold before it will allow a load. If the charge indicator light comes on within 10 minutes and the printer still won't respond, the pack has likely dropped below the recovery floor and needs replacing. A healthy battery will show the printer ready to print once it reaches 7.0V.
The paper feed keeps jamming even though the battery shows charged — what's causing it?
The Alpha 3R's paper feed motor depends on full voltage to generate enough torque to drive the platen roller consistently. At voltages below 7.0V, motor torque drops and the roller can't apply enough pressure to advance heavier label stock reliably. This gets mistaken for a mechanical jam, but the paper clears once the battery is fully charged. Charge to full, confirm the indicator shows 100%, then attempt the feed — if jamming continues at full charge, check the platen roller for debris.
The Alpha 3R prints fine for the first few jobs but the print gets progressively lighter — what's happening?
This points to voltage sag under repeated thermal head cycling rather than a capacity problem. Each print job heats the thermal head, and if the cells can't recover voltage fast enough between jobs during a high-volume run, the head temperature drops slightly with each successive print. The result is progressively lighter output as the shift goes on. Let the battery reach a full charge before a heavy print run and avoid printing continuously without brief pauses — the head needs stable voltage at 7.2V or above to hold consistent temperature across a long job.
