Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Black & Decker LST136B / LCC340C Series — 40V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LBXR2036)
This is a 40V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 2000mAh (80Wh), built to the same voltage and connector spec as the original LBXR2036 pack. It fits the LST136B cordless string trimmer and a wide range of Black & Decker 40V platform tools including the LCC340C and LHT2436. Drop it onto the existing charger and it reads the pack the same way the OEM unit does.
- 40V platform fit — LST136B, LCC340C, LHT2436 and more: These tools share a common 40V battery rail, slide-lock connector, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack works across the group without adapter or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on an LST136B under full-load cutting passes. The BMS held the voltage rail steady through motor-start inrush and showed clean cutoff at the low-voltage threshold — no mid-cycle drops outside normal sag.
- First-cycle load management on the trimmer: Run the trimmer at partial throttle for two full discharge cycles before pushing it through dense growth or thick-stem weeds. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current draw and set its overcurrent trip threshold correctly for your unit.
BMS cutoff on LST136B motor-start inrush surge
When the LST136B cutting head spins up from rest, it pulls a brief current spike — often three to five times the steady-state draw. A new pack fresh from storage may have a BMS that hasn't profiled your tool's inrush yet, and it can trip the overcurrent protection as a precaution. This shows as an immediate shutoff the instant you press the trigger. Two or three short trigger pulls of one to two seconds each let the BMS log the spike pattern and stop treating it as a fault condition.
Charger blinks red and won't accept a new pack after storage
Black & Decker 40V chargers have an acceptance voltage floor — typically around 20–25V. If the pack sat discharged for weeks, individual cells may have self-discharged below that threshold and the charger refuses to start a charge cycle. The fix is a short trickle-boost: some chargers have a recovery mode triggered by holding the pack in the dock for 30–60 seconds before the charge LED activates. If the charger still won't engage, check cell voltage at the pack terminals — any reading below 20V across the full pack means the cells need a recovery charge at 0.1C before normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My LST136B cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is the battery faulty?
Almost always a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead cell. The motor-start inrush spike on the LST136B hits the BMS before it's profiled your tool's current draw, and it shuts the pack down as a precaution. Try three short trigger pulls of one to two seconds each — this trains the BMS to recognise the inrush as normal. If the pack holds on after those short pulses, run two full discharge cycles and the problem typically stops.
The trimmer runs but bogs down and feels weak when cutting through thicker stems — what's happening?
That's voltage sag under load, usually caused by high contact resistance at the battery terminals or cell degradation. Start by cleaning the slide-lock contacts on both the pack and the tool with isopropyl alcohol — oxidation on those contacts increases resistance and drops the voltage rail under load. Check the rail voltage at the tool terminals during use; a healthy 40V pack should stay above 36V under normal cutting load. If voltage drops below 34V at the terminals, the cells are fagging and the pack needs replacement.
The battery worked fine in summer but the trimmer now feels sluggish in cold weather — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong — Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces peak current delivery and makes the tool feel underpowered. Bring the pack indoors and let it warm to at least 15°C before use. Cold-soaked cells also trigger low-voltage BMS cutoffs earlier in the discharge curve, so apparent capacity feels lower in winter. Store the pack at room temperature between uses rather than leaving it in an outdoor shed or car boot.
