Fits Dremel 8200, 8220, and 8300 rotary tools; replaces OEM battery B812-01 and B812-02.
10.8V 2500mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full spindle power across cutting, grinding, and polishing tasks.
Battery connector slides straight into tool housing with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush.
Bench testing showed BMS accepts motor-start inrush without nuisance cutoff; no throttle observed under sustained load.
On first use with the 8200, run the tool at half throttle for two cycles before full-speed engraving or cutting — lets the BMS establish inrush thresholds before motor peak current spikes trigger false shutdown.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dremel 8200 / 8220 / 8300 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B812-01)

This 10.8V 2500mAh Li-ion pack replaces the Dremel B812-01 and B812-02 batteries. It fits the Dremel 8200, 8220, and 8300 cordless rotary tools — used for cutting, grinding, engraving, and polishing work. Capacity is 2500mAh (27Wh), matching the original Dremel specification.

  • 8200 / 8220 / 8300 platform fit: All three models run the same 10.8V rail, use the same slide-in connector block, and communicate with the same BMS handshake protocol — so one pack covers the entire series without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on an 8220 through repeated high-speed motor starts and variable-speed grinding passes. The BMS held the overcurrent threshold correctly across each trigger pull and logged no false cutoff events.
  • Rotary tool break-in: On first use, run the tool at mid-speed for two full discharge cycles before pushing maximum RPM on hard materials — this allows the BMS to profile the inrush current from the motor before locking in overcurrent protection thresholds.

BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush in the 8200 series

Rotary tools pull a sharp current spike the moment the motor spins up from rest — especially under load or at full speed. On a new or recently stored pack, the BMS overcurrent threshold may not yet be calibrated to the motor's inrush profile. This can cause the tool to cut out on the first trigger pull even though the cells are fully charged. Two break-in cycles at mid-speed allow the BMS to set its threshold correctly and stop treating normal inrush as a fault.

Tool bogs under load or loses speed mid-cut

If the 8200 or 8220 starts strong but slows during grinding or cutting passes, the most likely cause is voltage sag under sustained draw — not a dead battery. Check the rail contacts on both the pack and the tool for oxidation or debris; even a thin layer of residue increases resistance and drops the voltage the motor receives. Clean both contact surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab. If sag persists after cleaning, test pack voltage under no-load with a multimeter — a healthy 10.8V pack should read 12.0V or above when fully charged.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Dremel 8220 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger at full speed — is the battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a defective cell. The rotary motor pulls a sharp inrush current spike at full-speed startup, and on a new or storage-rested pack the BMS hasn't yet profiled that draw — so it reads the spike as a fault and shuts down. Run two break-in cycles at mid-speed before pushing full RPM. After that, the BMS sets its overcurrent threshold to the motor's actual inrush profile and the cutout stops.

The charger blinks red and never starts charging when I plug in this new pack — what's wrong?

After storage, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance floor — typically around 10.0V for a 10.8V pack. Most Dremel chargers will not begin a charge cycle if they detect voltage below that threshold. Place the pack in a warm room (above 15°C) for 30 minutes, then retry. If the charger still rejects it, use a multimeter to check pack voltage at the terminals — a reading above 10.0V means the charger itself may need a reset by unplugging it from the wall for 60 seconds before reconnecting.

Why does the 8300 run noticeably weaker in cold weather even with a charged battery?

Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C — on a 10.8V pack this means the cells deliver less current per voltage unit, so the motor receives reduced power even though the pack shows full charge. The effect is especially visible in the 8300 under sustained grinding loads where sustained current draw is high. Warm the battery to room temperature before use; a pack that reads 12.0V+ at room temperature but sags heavily under load in the cold is behaving normally for Li-ion chemistry at low temperatures, not failing.
