Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Prebena PKT-8-PR100 Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 18V 3000mAh (54Wh) lithium-ion battery fits the Prebena PKT-8-PR100, PKT-8-PR100-LM, PKT-8-PR100-LM-SET, PKT-8-RKP100, and related models in the PKT-8 cordless tool lineup. It replaces the original pack when cells have degraded or when a second battery is needed to keep work moving. Voltage and connector configuration match the original to ensure charger and tool compatibility.
- PKT-8 platform fit: These models share the same 18V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One pack works across the entire PKT-8 family without adapter modifications or firmware conflicts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start inrush events on an 18V cordless drill platform. The BMS held its overcurrent threshold without nuisance tripping, and cell voltage balanced correctly across the discharge curve.
- First-use load conditioning: Run the tool at half load for two cycles before maximum torque applications. This lets the BMS profile the motor's inrush current draw and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before you push the tool hard.
BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush surge in the PKT-8-PR100
At trigger pull, a cordless drill motor draws a short inrush spike — often three to five times the steady-state current. On a new or freshly charged pack, the BMS may not yet have profiled that spike and can read it as an overcurrent fault. The result is an immediate cutoff that looks like a dead battery. Releasing the trigger for two to three seconds resets the BMS latch and lets the tool restart. After two full work cycles, the BMS calibrates its threshold to the motor's actual inrush profile and nuisance trips stop.
Tool bogs under load — voltage sag on the 18V rail
If the PKT-8-PR100 feels sluggish or loses torque mid-task without cutting out, the issue is usually voltage sag rather than a dead cell. High contact resistance at the battery terminal — caused by oxidation or debris — drops the rail voltage under load even when the open-circuit voltage reads normal. Clean the battery contacts and tool terminals with a dry cloth, then check that the pack seats fully and clicks into the retention latch. Under load, the rail voltage should stay above 16V; a drop below 15V at moderate torque points to contact resistance or a cell imbalance requiring a full charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Prebena PKT-8-PR100 cuts out the instant I pull the trigger — is the new battery faulty?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. The inrush current spike at trigger pull can exceed the BMS threshold on a new pack before it has profiled the motor's draw. Release the trigger, wait three seconds, and try again — the latch resets. After two full discharge-and-charge cycles, the BMS calibrates to the motor's inrush profile and the cutout stops.
The charger won't recognise this battery — it just blinks red and never starts charging.
A blinking red charger light almost always means the cell voltage has dropped below the charger's acceptance threshold, typically under 10V on an 18V pack after storage. Most Prebena chargers have a recovery or "boost" mode — hold the pack in the charger for 10 to 15 minutes and the charger will trickle current into the cells until they reach the acceptance voltage, then switch to normal charge. If the charger still won't accept the pack after 20 minutes, check that the pack terminals are clean and making full contact with the charger's pins.
The PKT-8-PR100 runs noticeably weaker in cold weather — is something wrong with the battery?
Nothing is wrong. Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply below 5°C, which reduces current delivery and causes the tool to feel underpowered. Warm the battery to room temperature before use — 15 minutes inside at 20°C is enough to bring internal resistance back down to normal operating range. Avoid leaving the pack in an unheated van overnight before a cold-morning job; a warm pack going into the cold holds performance far longer than a cold pack that was never warmed.
