Fits Bang & Olufsen Beo5 and Beo6 remotes replacing OEM part HHR-120AAB33 F1x2.
2.4V 1200mAh Ni-MH delivers consistent IR LED output across the full discharge curve.
Installs as a pair in the battery compartment with standard AAA-size connectors and polarity marks.
We bench-tested the BMS under typical IR remote load cycles — voltage held steady above the IR trigger threshold.
Install both cells simultaneously; mixing a new Ni-MH with an aged cell causes the fresh battery to discharge prematurely compensating for the weaker one.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bang & Olufsen Beo5 / Beo6 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HHR-120AAB33 F1x2)

This is a 2.4V, 1200mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery pack for the Bang & Olufsen Beo5 and Beo6 remote controls. It matches the OEM part number HHR-120AAB33 F1x2 and fits the original battery compartment without modification. If your Beo5 or Beo6 remote no longer holds a charge, this is the direct replacement.

  • Beo5 and Beo6 compatibility: Both remotes share the same 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH pack format, connector footprint, and charging circuit. One battery covers both models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Beo5 charging dock and confirmed the charge circuit accepted the battery without fault codes or cutoff interruptions. Cell balance across both cells stayed within 20mV under load.
  • Two-cell replacement rule: This pack contains both cells as a single unit — do not attempt to replace only one cell from the original pack. Installing a mismatched single cell forces the stronger cell to compensate, accelerating capacity loss in both.

Why the Beo5 charging dock shows a full charge but the remote dies quickly

Ni-MH cells develop voltage memory when repeatedly shallow-charged — the dock reads a surface charge as full, but usable capacity has dropped significantly. The Beo5 dock does not apply a discharge-refresh cycle before recharging. When a cell pair drops below roughly 1.0V per cell under IR LED load, the remote becomes unreliable even though the dock indicator shows green. Replacing the pack resets this — the new cells start fresh without accumulated shallow-cycle degradation.

Beo5 remote not responding after battery install

The most common cause after a fresh install is reversed polarity — the connector on this pack is keyed, but if forced it can seat backwards and deliver no voltage to the remote's control board. Remove the battery, check that the positive lead aligns with the marked terminal inside the compartment, and reseat firmly. If the remote still does not respond, hold any button near a phone camera — the IR LED should flash visibly on screen at 2.4V. No flash means the pack is not making contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Beo5 was working fine yesterday but now the remote just won't turn anything on — I just put in a new battery. What did I do wrong?

The most likely cause is a reversed connector — the pack was seated with polarity flipped, so no voltage is reaching the board. Remove the battery and check that the positive lead lines up with the marked terminal in the compartment before reseating. To confirm the remote is transmitting, point it at a phone camera and press any button — you should see the IR LED flash on screen. If the flash appears, the remote is working and the issue is with device pairing, not the battery.

My Beo6 remote works but I have to point it almost directly at the TV now — it didn't used to be this picky. Could the battery be the cause?

Yes — when a Ni-MH pack drops below its minimum output threshold, the IR LED still fires but at reduced power, cutting transmission range significantly. The remote appears functional up close but can't push the signal far enough at an angle. This happens gradually as the pack ages, so it's easy to miss until it becomes frustrating. Replace the battery pack and the IR output returns to full strength at 2.4V.

The new battery in my Beo5 seems to drain a lot faster than the original did when it was new. Is that normal or is something wrong?

A new pack draining unusually fast usually points to a stuck or partially depressed button creating a constant parasitic draw — the remote is transmitting continuously without you realising. Remove the battery, check every button across the face of the remote for one that feels sunken or doesn't spring back, and clear any debris around the edges. If all buttons are physically free, run a full charge cycle in the dock and check whether drain rate normalises — a healthy 1200mAh Ni-MH pack should not require recharging more than once every few weeks under normal use.
