Fits Philips Norelco QC5055 and BT5270 rotary shavers as a direct 1.2V Ni-MH cell replacement.
1.2V 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers steady voltage under motor load without the voltage sag that causes mid-shave cutoff.
Connector type is soldered leads; orientation and polarity match the original cell housing slot — no adapter needed.
We bench tested this pack on a QC5055 motor load; the BMS accepted the cell without reset cycles and held voltage through five consecutive shaves.
On first charge in the QC5055 dock, the shaver may show a low-battery indicator despite a full pack — remove and reseat the cell once, then charge again; the dock contacts need one cycle to recognize the new BMS signature.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Philips Norelco QC5055 / BT5270 — 1.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 1.2V 700mAh Ni-MH cell that fits the Philips Norelco QC5055 and BT5270 cordless shavers. It powers the motor that drives the cutting head during cordless use. When the original cell degrades and no longer holds a charge, this replacement restores full cordless operation.

  • QC5055 and BT5270 compatibility: Both models run the same 1.2V motor rail and use the same physical cell format — 43.50 × 10.50 × 10.30mm. The charging circuit expects this voltage and cell chemistry, so swapping to a different voltage or chemistry will trip the protection circuit or damage the board.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the shaver's onboard charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge without faulting. Motor load during the cutting cycle stayed within the cell's discharge curve.
  • Port drying before charge: These shavers are often rinsed under water. Before reconnecting to the charger, dry the charging contacts completely. Moisture bridging the contacts causes a BMS protection trip the device reports as a dead battery — not a charging error.

Capacity fade from daily partial charging on the QC5055

Ni-MH cells develop a voltage memory effect when repeatedly charged from a shallow state of discharge. The QC5055's fuel indicator recalibrates against recent charge cycles, so it drifts — showing full when the cell is only partially charged. Over time, the shaver cuts out earlier and earlier even after a full-charge cycle. Letting the cell discharge fully before recharging at least once every few weeks slows this drift significantly.

Shaver motor speed dropping before the indicator shows empty

Ni-MH cells at end of life show a steep voltage sag under motor load before the BMS hits its cutoff threshold. The shaver's indicator reads remaining charge at rest, not under load — so the display can show two bars while the motor is already starved for voltage. The cutting head slows, drags on longer hair, and may stall completely before the low-battery indicator triggers. If this is happening with the original cell, a fresh 700mAh cell at the correct 1.2V will eliminate the sag.

Frequently Asked Questions

My QC5055 shaver loses speed halfway through a shave even though the battery indicator still shows charge — what's happening?

That's voltage sag under motor load. Ni-MH cells that have degraded can't sustain their rated voltage once the motor draws current, even if the indicator shows charge remaining at rest. The indicator measures resting voltage, not load voltage — so it lags behind what the motor is actually seeing. Replace the cell and the motor will hold speed through a full shave.

The shaver won't charge after I rinsed it — the indicator light just blinks and stops. Is the battery dead?

Probably not the battery. Moisture bridging the charging contacts trips the BMS protection circuit, and the shaver reports this the same way it reports a failed cell. Dry the contacts and the port thoroughly — leave the shaver in a warm, dry spot for a few hours — then reconnect the charger. If it still won't accept a charge after full drying, the cell may have deep-discharged during the wait; at that point, replacing the 1.2V Ni-MH cell and recharging from scratch will reset the circuit.

The charging dock contacts look slightly discoloured — could that stop the shaver from charging even if the battery is fine?

Yes. Cleaning product residue and oxidation on the dock contacts raises contact resistance enough to interrupt the charge signal entirely. Wipe the contacts on both the dock and the shaver base with a dry cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol, let them dry fully, then seat the shaver firmly in the dock and check for the charge indicator within 30 seconds.
