Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gama Sonic GS-97F-GE / GS-97N / GS-104 — 3.2V LiFePO4 Replacement Battery (XML-323-GS)
This 3.2V, 3600mAh LiFePO4 cell replaces the original rechargeable battery in Gama Sonic solar light fixtures including the GS-97F-GE, GS-97N, GS-104, and GS-103. It stores the charge captured by the fixture's solar panel during the day and powers the light through the night. Capacity is 3600mAh (11.52Wh) — use the figure from the product data, not estimates from third-party sources.
- GS-97F-GE, GS-97N, GS-104, and GS-103 compatibility: These fixtures share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.2V voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol. The XML-323-GS cell fits all of them without modification to the holder or wiring harness.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full solar-simulated charge and discharge runs. The BMS held the charge cutoff at the correct upper voltage and protected the cell against over-discharge at the low-voltage threshold — both critical for outdoor fixtures left unattended through seasonal changes.
- Panel angle before installation: Adjust the solar panel face to point directly at the sun's path — not just skyward. The fixture's BMS has a minimum input threshold; indirect or partial-shade light generates insufficient current to trigger charging, even on a bright day. Get the angle right before assuming the battery is at fault.
Why the GS-97F-GE dims or shuts off before dawn
LiFePO4 cells in solar fixtures operate on a fixed discharge curve. If the panel didn't push enough current during the day — due to cloud cover, shading, or a poor angle — the cell starts the night at 70–80% capacity instead of full. The fixture's controller doesn't know this; it drives the LED at normal output until the cell voltage drops below the cutoff threshold, then the light shuts off. Replacing a degraded cell that can no longer hold 3600mAh is the fix, but first confirm the panel is actually delivering adequate charge current.
New battery installed but the light still won't turn on at night
A fresh LiFePO4 cell ships at a storage voltage — typically around 3.0V — which may sit below the controller's operating threshold. The fixture needs a full daytime charge cycle before it will activate the LED output circuit. Place the unit in direct sunlight for a full day, then check at dusk. If the light still doesn't activate, measure the cell voltage with a multimeter: a healthy, charged LiFePO4 cell should read between 3.2V and 3.35V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Gama Sonic light ran all night for years but now dies a few hours after dark — is the solar panel broken?
The panel is likely fine. After 2–3 years of daily charge cycles, LiFePO4 cells lose capacity and can no longer hold a full 3600mAh charge. The panel fills whatever capacity remains, so the light works — just for a shorter stretch. Check the panel surface for dirt or film first, clean it, and run a full sunny-day charge. If the light still cuts out early, the cell needs replacement, not the panel.
The light charged all day in full sun but still drained completely overnight — what went wrong?
Full sun doesn't guarantee a full charge if the panel angle is off. The GS-97F-GE's BMS requires the panel to deliver above its minimum input threshold to register a valid charge session. A panel tilted away from the sun's path can receive bright ambient light but output only 50–100mA — not enough to fill a 3600mAh cell in one day. Rotate the fixture so the panel faces the sun directly, run another full-day charge, and verify the light lasts through the night.
Can I speed up the initial charge on a new XML-323-GS cell using USB instead of waiting for solar?
Some Gama Sonic fixtures include a USB input port for exactly this reason — a USB source at 5V / 1–2A will charge the cell significantly faster than the onboard solar panel, which typically outputs 100–500mA depending on conditions. Check the fixture's base or cable tray for a micro-USB or USB-C port. If your model doesn't have one, place it in unobstructed direct sunlight for a full day to bring the cell from storage voltage up to its operating range of 3.2–3.35V.
