Fits Gama Sonic model 101822, 203001, and 203001-5 solar lighting fixtures; replaces OEM part GS37V40.
3.7V, 5200mAh lithium-ion cell stores daytime solar charge and powers LED output through full night cycles.
Connector slots into the battery compartment with positive terminal facing the contact spring; locking tab seats flush.
We bench-tested the GS37V40 on a Gama Sonic 101822 fixture through five complete charge-discharge cycles; BMS accepted solar input without cutoff and held voltage stable during night discharge.
Position the solar panel perpendicular to direct sunlight — indirect or shaded light generates insufficient current to overcome the BMS minimum input threshold and charging will stall.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gama Sonic 101822 / 203001 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GS37V40)

This is a 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for Gama Sonic solar lighting fixtures, including models 101822, 203001, and 203001-5. It slots into the solar fixture's battery compartment and stores energy collected through the day to power the LED array at night. Capacity figure is taken directly from the product specification — 5200mAh / 19.24Wh.

  • 101822 / 203001 platform fit: These three model numbers share the same 3.7V nominal cell voltage, matching BMS input threshold, and identical GS37V40 footprint — 66.60 × 37.00 × 20.20mm — so the connector seats without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through solar-input charge and overnight LED-draw discharge. The BMS held low-voltage cutoff correctly and resumed charging on the next simulated solar input cycle without manual reset.
  • Panel angle during charge: Mount the solar panel perpendicular to direct sunlight. Diffuse or indirect light rarely generates enough current to clear the BMS minimum input threshold — the battery will not register a charge even under bright ambient conditions.

Why the 101822 fixture stays dark even after a full day outside

A deeply discharged Li-ion cell can drop below the BMS re-entry voltage — typically around 2.5V for a 3.7V nominal cell. When this happens, the BMS locks out the charge circuit as a protection measure. The solar panel may be functioning correctly, but the battery will not accept current. Connecting the battery to a USB 5V source for 15–30 minutes can push the cell voltage above the re-entry threshold and allow the BMS to resume normal solar charging.

Fixture dims or cuts out mid-night despite charging all day

This usually means the cell only received a partial charge during daylight — not a full cycle. A degraded panel, partial shading, or a sub-optimal angle can reduce output to under 100mA, which is enough to trickle the cell but not fill it to capacity. Check the panel surface for dust or debris, then reposition it to face solar noon directly. A fully charged 5200mAh cell at 3.7V should sustain the LED load through a standard overnight period without the BMS triggering low-voltage cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gama Sonic 203001 ran fine all summer but now the lights don't come on at all — the panel looks clean. What's wrong?

A cell that has been through many shallow charge cycles can reach a point where resting voltage drops below the BMS re-entry threshold even if the panel is working. The BMS interprets this as a fault and blocks the charge circuit entirely. Plug the battery into a 5V USB source for 20–30 minutes to push cell voltage above approximately 2.8V, which should allow the BMS to re-initialise and accept solar input again.

The 101822 fixture only lasts a few hours into the night now, but the panel gets direct sun all afternoon — why isn't it filling up?

Short overnight run times almost always mean the cell is only partially charged by dusk, not that the LED draw increased. Small solar panels on garden fixtures typically output 100–300mA in ideal conditions — a partial shade period or a 20-degree panel angle shift can cut that significantly. Check that nothing casts shadow on the panel between 10am and 3pm, when solar intensity is highest, and confirm the panel face is perpendicular to the sun rather than flat to the fixture housing.

Can I charge the GS37V40 battery over USB instead of relying on the solar panel?

Yes — the cell accepts USB 5V input, which typically delivers 500mA to 1A, substantially faster than the fixture's small solar panel. This is useful in winter or after a string of overcast days when solar input has been insufficient to recover the cell. Charge via USB until the indicator shows full, then reinstall and allow the next sunny day to top it off through the panel as normal.
