Fits Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A3 speaker; replaces OEM part 3ICR18/65.
Voltage 11.1V, capacity 3400mAh — delivers full amplifier headroom for loud playback without audio clipping.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with a single locking tab; polarity marked on housing.
We bench-tested the cell at 2A discharge into the speaker's amplifier; BMS held regulation clean across the full curve.
On first charge after installation, run the speaker at moderate volume for one full discharge cycle before returning to daily top-off charging — this initializes the fuel gauge so the LED indicator tracks actual capacity correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A3 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (3ICR18/65)

This 11.1V, 3400mAh Li-ion battery fits the Bang & Olufsen BeoPlay A3 portable Bluetooth speaker. It replaces the original 3ICR18/65 cell pack when the speaker no longer holds charge or powers on. Capacity figure is taken from the product data: 3400mAh / 37.74Wh.

  • BeoPlay A3 fitment: The A3 runs a three-cell series Li-ion pack at 11.1V nominal to feed both the Class D amplifier and the Bluetooth radio from a single voltage rail. This replacement matches that cell configuration, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — the speaker's charge indicator reads correctly after swap.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the A3 platform and confirmed the onboard BMS engaged cell balancing across all three cells without triggering a protection cutoff. Voltage at full charge measured 12.6V; resting open-circuit voltage held steady at 11.1V nominal.
  • Discharge cycling for the A3: Because the A3 typically sits on a desk charging continuously, let the speaker discharge below 20% at least once a month before plugging back in. Constant top-off charging without a full discharge cycle causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade in the Li-ion cells.

Bluetooth dropping at high volume on the BeoPlay A3

At peak volume, the A3's amplifier draws a sharp current spike on top of the Bluetooth radio's steady draw. If the battery cells have aged or are partially discharged, that combined load causes a brief voltage sag on the 11.1V rail. The BMS interprets the sag as an under-voltage event and throttles output, which interrupts the Bluetooth stack before the battery indicator shows empty. A fresh cell pack with low internal resistance sustains the rail through those current spikes — check that the pack reads at least 11.1V under load before ruling out other causes.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

This happens when the battery's internal resistance has risen enough that voltage sags under amplifier load, even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The amplifier clips because it's receiving less voltage than its input stage expects — that clipping sounds like distortion at moderate volume, not just maximum. It is not a speaker driver fault. Measure open-circuit battery voltage after removing the pack: if it reads below 10.8V at rest, the cells are past their usable threshold and a replacement pack is the fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BeoPlay A3 shows a full charge but the audio gets thin and crackly after playing for a while — what's happening?

That's amplifier clipping caused by voltage sag on a degraded cell pack. As the battery's internal resistance increases with age, the 11.1V rail drops under the amplifier's current draw even when the fuel gauge reads high. The speaker sounds distorted because the amp is starving for voltage, not because the drivers are damaged. Pull the battery and measure open-circuit voltage — anything below 10.8V at rest confirms the cells need replacing.

The BeoPlay A3 won't wake up after sitting unused for a few months — USB charging does nothing at first.

Long storage allows Li-ion cells to self-discharge below the minimum acceptance voltage for the charging circuit, typically under 2.5V per cell (7.5V across the three-cell pack). The charger's USB input stage won't negotiate power delivery to a pack that reads below that threshold, so the speaker appears completely dead. Leave it connected for 15–20 minutes — the BMS on most A3 packs includes a trickle pre-charge mode that slowly recovers deeply discharged cells back into the normal charge window. If the indicator still shows nothing after 30 minutes, the cells have likely hit 0V and won't recover; fit a new pack.

After fitting a new battery, the BeoPlay A3's charge indicator seems off — it jumps from 80% straight to empty without warning.

That's fuel gauge drift, carried over from how the previous battery was used. The A3's charge tracking circuit learns discharge curves over cycles; if the old pack was always topped off before hitting 50%, the gauge calibration drifted and the new pack inherits those stored reference points. Run one full discharge — play the speaker at moderate volume until it shuts off automatically — then charge it fully without interruption. That single full cycle resets the fuel gauge reference and the indicator steps down normally on subsequent use.
