Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bose SoundLink Color II / Mini II — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (064454)

This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in Bose SoundLink Color II and SoundLink Mini II portable Bluetooth speakers. It also fits models listed under part numbers 626161-0010 and 064455. Capacity is sourced from the cell spec — 3400mAh (12.58Wh).

  • SoundLink Color II and Mini II compatibility: Both models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both platforms because the charge controller logic is identical across this speaker generation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the SoundLink Color II charge controller at full volume load. The BMS held charge cutoff cleanly at 4.2V and triggered low-voltage protection at the correct threshold without tripping a false shutdown during amplifier draw spikes.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for desk-top users: If this speaker sits on a desk and gets topped off before it drops below 50%, run it down past 20% at least once a month before recharging. Constant partial charging without a full discharge causes fuel gauge drift on the onboard controller, making the battery indicator read inaccurately within a few months.

Bluetooth dropping at high volume on a new battery

At peak volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously. If the cell's internal resistance is elevated — even on a new but poorly manufactured cell — voltage sags under that combined load. The speaker's protection circuit interprets the sag as a near-empty cell and throttles output or cuts the radio link. Check that the replacement cell holds above 3.6V under load; a healthy 3400mAh cell should not sag below that threshold during normal playback.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

This happens when the cell's actual voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge expects — the amplifier hits its minimum operating voltage and clips the signal before the indicator warns you. It is common after a degraded cell is replaced with one that has been stored discharged for too long, leaving the cell in a partially recovered state. Charge the new battery to 100% before first use and let it complete a full cycle. If distortion persists below the half-charge mark, verify cell voltage directly — it should read at least 3.7V at rest when the indicator shows two bars.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SoundLink Color II shows a full charge but audio starts cutting out after about an hour of play — is the new battery faulty?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a faulty cell. If the speaker spent months on shallow cycles — always topped off before dropping below 50% — the onboard controller loses track of true capacity and reports full charge when the cell is already partially depleted. Run the speaker down past 15% from a full charge twice in a row. That forces the controller to recalibrate its endpoints and the reported charge level will realign with actual cell state.

The speaker won't wake up from USB charging after the battery went completely flat — it just shows nothing on the indicator.

When a Li-ion cell drops below roughly 2.5V, the USB charge controller refuses to initiate a standard charge cycle because the cell voltage is under the PD minimum acceptance threshold. Plug in the original USB cable and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything — the controller runs a low-current pre-charge trickle to bring the cell back above 3.0V before switching to normal charge mode. If the indicator still shows nothing after 45 minutes, the cell has been in deep discharge long enough that recovery is unlikely.

The fabric housing on my SoundLink Mini II gets noticeably warm after an hour of play — is that the battery overheating?

Warmth in that area comes from two overlapping heat sources: the Class D amplifier generates heat during sustained loud playback, and the Li-ion cell adds discharge heat on top of that. The compact fabric housing traps both. It is normal at moderate volumes, but if the speaker becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, the cell's internal resistance may be elevated — measure resting voltage after a cool-down period; a healthy cell should read between 3.7V and 4.1V depending on charge state. Keep the speaker out of direct sunlight during extended play to reduce thermal stacking.
