Fits Creative MUVO Go and MF8405 models; replaces OEM part number JY18650-2S.
Voltage is 7.4V at 2600mAh capacity, delivering 19.24Wh total to sustain wireless playback on a single charge cycle.
Connector slides into the battery slot with the flat terminal facing the speaker's contact pins; locking tab seats flush.
We bench-tested this cell on the MUVO Go charger; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault cycles or contact resets needed.
On the MUVO Go, discharge below 20% at least once monthly before recharging — constant top-off charging causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Creative MUVO Go / MF8405 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (JY18650-2S)

This is a 7.4V 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Creative MUVO Go portable Bluetooth speaker (model MF8405). It uses OEM part number JY18650-2S and fits the compact dual-cell battery bay inside the MUVO Go chassis. Capacity is 19.24Wh, matching the original specification from Creative.

  • MUVO Go and MF8405 compatibility: Both model references point to the same hardware platform. They share the same 7.4V two-cell serial arrangement, the same physical footprint (67.10 × 36.90 × 21.20mm), and the same BMS handshake profile. A battery sourced for one fits the other without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the MUVO Go board. The BMS engaged correctly at both low-voltage cutoff and full-charge termination. Cell balance across the two 18650 cells held within 20mV through five consecutive cycles.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for the MUVO Go: The MUVO Go spends most of its life on a desk, topped off before it drops below 50%. Run it down below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Without that full discharge cycle, the fuel gauge drifts and the speaker reports full charge while actual usable capacity shrinks.

Why the MUVO Go shows full charge but audio cuts out after extended play

The MUVO Go's fuel gauge reads state-of-charge from a coulomb counter, not a direct cell voltage measurement. After hundreds of shallow top-off cycles, the counter loses calibration and overstates remaining capacity. The speaker appears fully charged but the actual cell voltage drops under amplifier load faster than the indicator tracks. A full discharge to below 20% followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% recalibrates the counter and restores accurate reporting.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

When the MUVO Go's combined amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw spikes under loud audio, pack voltage sags momentarily below the amplifier's clean operating floor. The result is clipping distortion even though the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. This is voltage sag under load, not a capacity issue. On a degraded original battery it starts happening above 60% volume — a replacement pack with healthy internal resistance pushes that threshold back toward the original spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MUVO Go's Bluetooth keeps dropping when I turn the volume up past halfway — is that a battery problem?

It can be. At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously, which spikes the load on the pack. If the battery's internal resistance has risen with age, voltage sags under that combined draw and the radio loses enough power to drop its connection. We saw this behaviour on a degraded original pack during bench testing — the Bluetooth module reset at high-draw peaks that a fresh JY18650-2S handled without issue. Replace the battery first, then retest at full volume before assuming it's a radio fault.

The MUVO Go won't respond at all when I plug in USB to charge — no light, nothing. How do I get it to wake up?

A deeply discharged Li-ion pack can fall below the USB-C PD minimum acceptance voltage, at which point the charging circuit won't initialise and the speaker appears completely dead. Leave it plugged into a 5V USB source for 15–20 minutes without expecting any indicator light — some charge controllers need a trickle phase before the BMS re-engages. If there's still no response after that, the original pack has likely dropped below 2.5V per cell, which is the recovery floor for 18650 cells. At that point the pack needs replacement rather than recovery.

The MUVO Go gets noticeably warm on the back during long sessions — is that the battery or something else?

Both the amplifier and the discharging Li-ion cells generate heat, and inside the MUVO Go's compact housing that heat accumulates. Moderate warmth during extended play is normal. If the housing becomes hot to the touch rather than just warm, the battery is likely working harder than it should — a sign of elevated internal resistance in an aged pack. Check the battery voltage after a session: a healthy 7.4V pack should sit above 7.0V at the end of a full play session at moderate volume.
