Fits Harman/Kardon Esquire portable speaker; replaces OEM battery MLP713287-2S2P.
Voltage measures 7.4V with 3400mAh capacity, delivering 25.16Wh to sustain wireless playback on the Esquire.
Connector type is proprietary; locking tab seats into the speaker's underside battery slot with firm contact.
We bench-tested the pack on a full discharge cycle; BMS cut cleanly at 6.0V without voltage sag during amplifier load.
Discharge the battery below 20% once monthly before recharging—constant top-off charging causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade on this lithium-polymer cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Harman/Kardon Esquire — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MLP713287-2S2P)

This 7.4V, 3400mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the MLP713287-2S2P cell in the Harman/Kardon Esquire portable Bluetooth speaker. It restores wireless operation when the original pack no longer holds a usable charge. Dimensions are 90.80 × 32.00 × 24.00mm — confirm clearance before fitting.

  • Esquire platform fit: The Esquire uses a 2S2P lithium-polymer configuration at 7.4V nominal. This replacement matches that cell arrangement, connector pinout, and BMS handshake so the speaker's charge indicator reads correctly after swap.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the Esquire platform. The BMS held voltage within spec across the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw, and the charge circuit accepted the pack without fault flags.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for Esquire users: If the Esquire sits on a desk and gets topped off constantly, let it run below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Continuous shallow cycling causes fuel gauge drift on the 2S2P pack — the indicator starts reading full when the cell is not.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

The Esquire's amplifier needs a clean voltage rail above roughly 6.8V to drive the drivers without clipping. As the 2S2P pack ages, internal resistance rises and voltage sags under amplifier load — even when the indicator still shows one or two bars. The result is audible distortion at moderate-to-high volume before the speaker actually shuts down. A fresh pack at 7.4V nominal eliminates the sag and pushes the distortion threshold back to near-empty.

Esquire won't wake from USB charge after sitting unused for weeks

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 2–5% per month. Leave the Esquire stored without a charge for two months or more and the pack can drop below the USB-C minimum acceptance voltage — the charger sees a dead cell and won't initiate current flow. To recover the pack, connect to a 5V USB source and hold the power button for 10–15 seconds. If the BMS doesn't re-initialise within two minutes, the cell has dropped below the safe recovery threshold and replacement is the correct fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Esquire plays fine for a while then the Bluetooth keeps cutting out at high volume — is that a speaker fault or the battery?

That's a battery fault, not a speaker fault. At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously — if the pack's internal resistance is high, voltage sags enough to startle the BMS into a brief protection cutoff, which drops the Bluetooth connection. A fresh 3400mAh pack at 7.4V with lower internal resistance handles the combined current spike without sagging. Run the speaker at high volume for 60 seconds after fitting the new battery — if Bluetooth holds, the pack was the cause.

The Esquire shows a full charge indicator straight after charging but audio fades noticeably within the first hour of use — what's causing this?

This is fuel gauge drift from shallow cycling. When the pack is repeatedly topped off before it drops below 50%, the battery management system loses track of the true capacity and reports full when the usable charge is a fraction of that. The cell hasn't failed completely — it's just that the gauge reference points are corrupted. Let the speaker discharge fully until it shuts itself off, then charge to 100% uninterrupted — this recalibrates the fuel gauge.

The Esquire gets noticeably warm on the bottom after an hour of play — is that normal or a sign the battery is failing?

Some warmth is normal — the amplifier generates heat during extended playback and the compact fabric housing traps it. What's not normal is heat concentrated at the battery cavity rather than spread across the chassis, or warmth that increases after the first 20–30 minutes instead of levelling off. An ageing Li-Polymer cell with rising internal resistance converts more energy to heat under load rather than delivering it to the amplifier. If the housing feels hot to touch rather than warm, replace the pack and check that the replacement sits flat with no physical swelling before closing the unit.
