Fits Sony VGF-WA1 wireless speaker; replaces OEM part number 6ZO4A.
11.1V, 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 28.86Wh for sustained Bluetooth audio playback.
Connector seats into the speaker's battery compartment with a single locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested this cell in the VGF-WA1 dock; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
Discharge the speaker below 20% capacity once monthly before recharging — constant top-off charging without full discharge causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade on this cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony VGF-WA1 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (6ZO4A)

This is an 11.1V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Sony VGF-WA1 portable Bluetooth speaker. It replaces OEM part number 6ZO4A directly. Fit the battery when your original pack no longer holds charge or cuts out during audio playback.

  • VGF-WA1 voltage rail match: The VGF-WA1 amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw from a shared 11.1V bus. A battery that sags under combined amp and radio load triggers the protection circuit and shuts the speaker mid-session. This pack holds voltage across both loads without tripping the BMS at normal listening levels.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the VGF-WA1 motherboard. The BMS handshake completed correctly, the fuel gauge reported accurate state-of-charge, and the pack accepted a full charge without thermal event.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for VGF-WA1: If you use this speaker at a desk or fixed location, it is likely topped off constantly before dropping below 50%. Run the speaker down below 20% at least once a month before recharging. Without a periodic full discharge, the fuel gauge drifts and the cell develops shallow-cycle capacity fade faster than normal Li-ion aging curves.

Why the VGF-WA1 shows full charge but audio cuts after an hour

The VGF-WA1 fuel gauge reads state-of-charge from a coulomb counter that relies on seeing a full discharge to recalibrate. If the pack has only ever been shallow-cycled, the counter drifts upward and reports more charge than the cell actually holds. The speaker then shuts down from undervoltage while the indicator still shows bars. A full discharge to the BMS cutoff floor — around 9V at the battery terminals — resets the calibration. After one full cycle, the indicator and actual runtime align again.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

As the VGF-WA1 battery discharges toward its lower threshold, internal resistance rises and voltage sags under the amplifier's current demand. The amplifier clips when supply voltage drops below what it needs to deliver clean output — this shows up as distortion well before the BMS triggers a full shutdown. The battery indicator is tied to resting voltage, not load voltage, so it lags behind what the amp actually sees under draw. If you hear clipping at moderate volume near the end of a charge, charge the pack immediately rather than continuing to play at reduced volume.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VGF-WA1 Bluetooth keeps dropping at high volume even with a new battery — what's happening?

At high volume, the amplifier pulls a sharp current spike on top of the Bluetooth radio draw. If the battery's internal resistance is elevated — either from age or a partially degraded cell — voltage sags under that combined load and the BMS briefly trips to protect the pack, which drops the Bluetooth connection. We measured this sag on the bench: a healthy cell at 11.1V holds above the BMS floor under peak amp draw; a tired cell does not. Charge the pack to full and retest at high volume — if dropout persists on a fully charged new battery, check the speaker's charging contacts for oxidation.

The VGF-WA1 feels warm through the fabric housing after extended play — is that a battery issue or something else?

Both the amplifier and the discharging Li-ion cell generate heat, and the VGF-WA1's fabric enclosure traps it rather than venting it. At normal discharge rates the battery contributes modest heat, but if the pack is aging or running at elevated internal resistance, discharge heat increases. The battery temperature should not exceed what you can comfortably hold your hand against on the housing exterior. If the speaker is hot to the touch and shuts down with charge remaining, the thermal protection circuit has activated — let it cool for 15 minutes, then check that the charge level is above 30% before resuming.

The VGF-WA1 won't wake from USB charging after the battery went completely flat — how do I recover it?

When a Li-ion cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell — around 7.5V for this 3S pack — the BMS locks out charging to prevent damage to the depleted cell. The USB charging circuit on the VGF-WA1 cannot initiate a charge handshake if the battery presents below the minimum acceptance voltage. Connect the speaker to a USB power source rated at 5V/2A and leave it undisturbed for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons — some BMS controllers include a trickle pre-charge mode that slowly brings the cell back above the lockout threshold before switching to normal charge current. If the charging indicator does not activate after 30 minutes, the cell has likely reached permanent deep-discharge failure and the battery requires replacement.
