Fits JBL Boombox 2 portable speaker, replaces OEM part numbers SUN-INTE-213 and SUN-INTE-268.
7.4V, 13500mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full power to the amplifier and Bluetooth radio simultaneously.
Connector seats into the battery cavity with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed.
We bench-tested this pack on full-volume playback and confirmed the BMS held voltage under combined amplifier and radio current draw.
Discharge the battery below 20% capacity at least once monthly before recharging to prevent fuel gauge drift and capacity fade from shallow cycling.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Boombox 2 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SUN-INTE-213)

This 7.4V, 13500mAh (99.9Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the JBL Boombox 2 portable Bluetooth speaker. It restores the speaker's ability to run off battery rather than staying tethered to mains power. Dimensions are 135.00 x 75.00 x 22.20mm — verify your original pack before fitting.

  • Boombox 2 platform fit: The Boombox 2 uses a single large-format Li-ion cell pack at 7.4V nominal. The BMS monitors cell voltage and communicates charge state to the speaker's onboard fuel gauge — the replacement pack uses the same connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol as OEM.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the Boombox 2 platform. The BMS engaged cell balancing correctly across both cells, and the speaker's charge indicators tracked accurately through the full voltage range without false-full readings.
  • Fuel gauge calibration tip: Let the battery discharge below 20% at least once a month before recharging. The Boombox 2 is often kept topped off between uses — constant partial charging without a full discharge cycle causes the onboard fuel gauge to drift, making the charge indicator unreliable over time.

Bluetooth dropping at high volume on the Boombox 2

At maximum volume, the Boombox 2's Class D amplifier pulls a sharp current spike that combines with the Bluetooth radio draw. If the battery's internal resistance has risen — either through age or a new pack that hasn't been conditioned — the combined load causes a brief voltage sag. The BMS interprets this sag as a low-cell event and throttles output, which the radio registers as a power interruption. Run two full charge-discharge cycles on the new pack before testing at high volume; internal resistance drops as the cells condition.

Speaker won't wake from USB-C charge after sitting discharged

If the Boombox 2 sits unused for several weeks in a discharged state, the cell voltage can drop below the USB-C Power Delivery minimum acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point the charger handshake fails and the speaker appears completely dead. Connect the USB-C cable and leave it for 20–30 minutes without expecting any indicator light — the BMS needs trickle current to bring the cell voltage back above the PD acceptance floor before normal charging begins. If the indicator still doesn't respond after 40 minutes, check that the USB-C source delivers at least 5V/2A.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my JBL Boombox 2 show a full charge bar but the audio cuts out after an hour of use?

This is fuel gauge drift — the onboard charge indicator has lost calibration from repeated shallow top-off charges without a full discharge. The battery still holds charge, but the gauge no longer reflects actual cell voltage accurately. Run the speaker until it powers off on its own, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. One full cycle usually restores accurate reporting.

The bass sounds distorted and clipped even though the battery indicator still shows two bars — what's happening?

The amplifier in the Boombox 2 needs a stable voltage rail to reproduce low-frequency peaks cleanly. As the pack ages or if internal resistance rises, voltage sags under bass transients even when the fuel gauge reads mid-charge. The amp clips at those sag points before the BMS triggers the low-battery cutoff. Check cell voltage under load — if it drops below 6.8V during heavy bass, the pack needs replacing.

The Boombox 2 gets noticeably warm on top during long outdoor sessions — is that the battery or the amp?

Both contribute, but the battery and amplifier heat stack in the enclosed fabric housing. The Class D amp generates heat at high output, and the Li-ion pack adds discharge heat on top of that. Heat accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells — if the housing feels hot to the touch rather than just warm, lower playback volume by 20–30% to reduce amplifier current draw and give the thermal path a chance to keep up.
