Fits JBL Charge 2+ and Charge 2 Plus speakers, replaces OEM part MLP912995-2P and GSP1029102.
3.7V, 6000mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers 22.2Wh to restore full wireless playback duration on this waterproof portable speaker.
Connector slides into the internal battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the cell housing.
We bench-tested this pack in a Charge 2+ unit; the BMS accepted full charge in under three hours with stable voltage output.
Discharge the speaker below 20% capacity at least once monthly before recharging — constant top-off charging accelerates capacity fade on this cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Charge 2+ — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MLP912995-2P)

This 3.7V, 6000mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original pack in the JBL Charge 2+ and Charge 2 Plus portable Bluetooth speakers. It matches the OEM part numbers MLP912995-2P and GSP1029102. Voltage, capacity, and connector position match the original so no modification is needed.

  • Charge 2+ and Charge 2 Plus fit: Both model names share the same chassis, the same 3.7V power rail, and the same BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both variants without any hardware difference.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Charge 2+ unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, balanced the cell voltage cleanly on full charge, and held steady current draw during sustained high-volume playback.
  • Monthly full-discharge cycle for the Charge 2+: The Charge 2+ sees heavy desk-top use where owners top it off before it drops below 50%. Let the speaker drain below 20% at least once a month before recharging — skipping this causes fuel gauge drift that makes the battery appear full when it is not.

Bluetooth dropping at high volume on the Charge 2+

At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously. On an aged or weak cell, this combined spike causes voltage to sag below the radio module's minimum operating threshold, and the Bluetooth stack resets. The speaker may reconnect within seconds, making it look like a pairing issue rather than a power issue. A fresh 6000mAh cell with low internal resistance keeps the voltage rail stable under that combined load.

Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty

When the cell voltage sags under load, the amplifier receives less headroom than it needs and clips the audio signal — you hear crackle or distortion while the LED still shows charge remaining. This happens because the fuel gauge reads resting voltage, not voltage under the amplifier's actual draw. It gets worse as internal resistance rises with cell age. After fitting a replacement, confirm the speaker plays cleanly at full volume down to the final LED bar before cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions

My JBL Charge 2+ shows a full charge but the audio starts cutting out after about an hour of play — is that the battery?

Yes. A degraded cell holds a surface charge that satisfies the fuel gauge at rest but collapses under the sustained current draw of the amplifier. The BMS then triggers a protection cutoff, and audio drops even though the LED showed full. Fitting a replacement 6000mAh cell restores the stable voltage the amplifier needs across a full session.

The Charge 2+ won't respond at all when I plug it in to charge — no LED, nothing. Is the battery completely dead?

When a Li-Polymer cell discharges below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS locks out charging as a safety measure and the charger sees no load to respond to. Leave the USB cable connected for 10–15 minutes — some chargers will trickle a small current that brings the cell back above the BMS acceptance threshold and triggers a normal charge cycle. If the LED still does not light after 20 minutes, the cell is too far gone to recover and needs replacement.

My Charge 2+ gets noticeably warm on the sides during long listening sessions — is that normal or a battery problem?

Some warmth is expected because the amplifier and the discharging Li-Polymer cell both generate heat inside a sealed fabric housing with limited airflow. If the speaker becomes hot to the touch or shuts off mid-play, the thermal protection circuit is tripping because heat is building faster than the housing can dissipate it. An aged cell with rising internal resistance generates more heat per amp than a new one under the same load. Replacing the cell reduces the resistive heat contribution and keeps skin temperature within the normal range.
