Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JBL Flip 2 (2014) — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (JN151PH13849)
This 3.7V, 2200mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original pack in the JBL Flip 2 (2014) portable Bluetooth speaker. It fits both the Flip 2 and Flip II 2014 variants, which share identical battery dimensions and connector pinout. Use the capacity figure from the product listing — 2200mAh — as the reference for this cell.
- Flip 2 and Flip II (2014) fitment: Both model names refer to the same 2014 hardware revision. The battery bay, JST connector orientation, and BMS communication lines are identical across both, so one cell covers both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Flip 2 mainboard. The onboard BMS accepted the pack without fault codes, and the charge controller stepped through its constant-current and constant-voltage phases normally to 4.2V cutoff.
- Monthly discharge cycle for the Flip 2: Let the speaker drain below 20% at least once a month before recharging. The Flip 2 is frequently left on a desk and topped off constantly — this shallow-cycle pattern causes fuel gauge drift over time, making the indicator read full while actual capacity has dropped.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty on the Flip 2
The Flip 2 amplifier draws a sharp current spike at mid-to-high volume levels. When cell voltage sags under that load, the amplifier clips before the fuel gauge registers low battery. The indicator can still show two bars while audio is already distorting. This is a voltage sag symptom, not a capacity symptom — a fresh cell at full charge eliminates it because internal resistance is lower and the voltage rail holds steady under the amp draw.
Flip 2 not waking from USB charge after sitting unused for weeks
Lithium-polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If the Flip 2 sits unused long enough, the cell can drop below the minimum voltage the USB charge controller will accept — typically around 2.5V — and the unit appears completely dead. The fix is to apply a trickle charge using a bench supply or a charger with a recovery mode set to 3.0V before attempting a standard USB charge cycle. Once the cell recovers above the acceptance threshold, normal USB charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Flip 2 plays for a while then the audio starts cutting in and out at higher volumes — is this a battery fault or a speaker fault?
This is a battery fault, not a driver fault. At high volume, the amplifier pulls a combined current spike across both the audio circuit and the Bluetooth radio simultaneously. If the cell's internal resistance has risen — which happens as Li-polymer cells age — voltage sags under that combined draw and the BMS briefly throttles output. Replacing the cell with a fresh 2200mAh pack resolves the sag because internal resistance drops back to spec.
The Flip 2 shows a full charge indicator after only a short time on USB, but playtime is noticeably shorter than it used to be — what's happening?
Shallow cycling is the cause. If the speaker is regularly recharged at 50% or above, the fuel gauge loses calibration and the BMS flags "full" based on voltage rather than actual capacity. Meanwhile, the cell has developed capacity fade from never completing full cycles. Let the speaker discharge below 20% before the next three or four charges — this recalibrates the gauge and confirms whether real capacity loss has occurred or whether it is gauge drift alone.
The Flip 2 won't turn on at all after sitting in a bag for two months — USB doesn't wake it either. What do I do?
The cell has self-discharged below the USB charge controller's minimum acceptance voltage, roughly 2.5V. At that level the controller sees the pack as absent or faulted and will not initiate a charge cycle. If you have access to a charger with a recovery or boost mode, set it to 3.0V at a low current — 100mA is enough — and hold it there until the cell climbs above 3.0V. After that, standard USB charging takes over normally.
