Fits Sony GTK-XB60 portable speaker; replaces OEM part 1-853-678-11 and LIP4160HEPC battery cells.
14.8V, 2600mAh lithium-ion delivers 38.48Wh for full-range audio output without mid-session dropout.
Connector seats into the speaker's battery compartment with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the housing.
Bench test showed clean BMS voltage ramp on initial charge; no fault codes or early cutoff observed.
Run a full discharge to below 20% once monthly before recharging—constant top-off charging causes fuel gauge drift and accelerates capacity fade on this cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony GTK-XB60 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1-853-678-11)

This is a 14.8V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery for the Sony GTK-XB60 portable Bluetooth speaker. It replaces OEM part numbers 1-853-678-11 and LIP4160HEPC. Fit the GTK-XB60 specifically — this pack is not a universal speaker battery.

  • GTK-XB60 battery platform: The GTK-XB60 runs a four-cell Li-ion configuration at 14.8V nominal to supply both the Class D amplifier rail and the Bluetooth radio simultaneously. The BMS monitors individual cell balance and will hard-cut output if any cell drifts more than 150mV from the pack average — a known behaviour on this speaker family under high-volume load.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated charge and discharge passes on a GTK-XB60 unit. The BMS handshake cleared on first connection, cell balancing completed within the first full charge, and the protection circuit responded correctly to simulated over-current spikes matching amplifier start-up draw.
  • Monthly discharge cycle for GTK-XB60: This speaker typically charges on a desk or shelf and rarely drains below 50%. Run it down past 20% at least once a month before recharging. Without a full discharge cycle, the fuel gauge drifts and the speaker reports full charge while actual cell capacity quietly shrinks.

Audio distortion before the battery indicator reaches empty on the GTK-XB60

The GTK-XB60 amplifier needs a stable supply above approximately 12V to drive clean output at high volume. As a degraded or partially discharged pack sags under combined amplifier and radio current draw, the supply rail drops below that threshold before the battery gauge reads low. The amplifier clips because the voltage is insufficient, not because the speaker is faulty. Fitting a fresh 14.8V pack with healthy cell balance restores the clean supply the amplifier needs and pushes that clipping point back toward actual low-charge territory.

GTK-XB60 showing full charge on indicator but audio cutting out after extended play

This is fuel gauge drift caused by shallow cycling — the speaker was repeatedly topped off before reaching a genuine low state, so the BMS lost its calibrated reference points for full and empty. The indicator reads full because the BMS last learned "full" at a degraded capacity ceiling. Run the battery down past 20% then charge uninterrupted to 100% to force the BMS to relearn both endpoints. After two or three full cycles the indicator should track actual charge state accurately again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GTK-XB60 Bluetooth keeps cutting out when I turn the volume up — could this be the battery?

Yes. At high volume, the amplifier and Bluetooth radio draw current simultaneously, and a weak or aging pack sags under that combined load. When the supply voltage drops too far, the Bluetooth radio loses power before the amplifier does — it looks like a wireless fault but the real cause is voltage sag in the battery. Fit a fresh 14.8V pack and test at full volume; the drop-outs should stop.

The GTK-XB60 feels warm around the back panel during long play sessions — is that normal with the new battery?

Some warmth is expected. The Class D amplifier generates heat, and the Li-ion pack adds its own discharge heat inside the same housing. With a fresh, balanced pack the heat stays within the speaker's thermal design and the BMS will not intervene. If the housing becomes hot to the touch and audio suddenly cuts, the BMS is triggering a thermal protection cutoff — let the speaker cool for 15 minutes, then check that the ventilation slots on the rear panel are not blocked.

The GTK-XB60 won't respond to the charge cable after the battery went completely flat — how do I recover it?

A deeply discharged Li-ion pack can fall below the USB input circuit's minimum acceptance voltage, so the charger sees no valid load and never starts. Leave the cable connected for 20–30 minutes without pressing any buttons — most chargers will trickle a small recovery current that brings the cell voltage back above the acceptance threshold. If the charge indicator still does not light after 30 minutes, the cell voltage has likely dropped below 2.5V per cell and the pack needs replacement rather than recovery.
