Fits Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H8i and H9 3rd Generation; replaces OEM part AEC723938.
3.7V, 1000mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full charge capacity for wireless audio and noise cancellation.
Connector attaches to the existing charging port inside the headphone ear cup without modification.
We bench-tested this pack through five charge cycles; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion with stable voltage curve.
On first use after swap, power on the headphones and let them sit for two minutes before playing audio — the fuel gauge needs a voltage reference cycle to display remaining capacity accurately.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay H8i / H9 3rd Gen — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AEC723938)

This 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the internal battery in the Beoplay H8i and Beoplay H9 3rd Generation wireless over-ear headphones. It restores power capacity to both wireless audio playback and active noise cancellation. At 39.50 x 38.00 x 6.00mm, it matches the original cell footprint exactly.

  • H8i and H9 3rd Gen shared platform: Both headphones run the same 3.7V cell with the same connector and BMS handshake. The AEC723938 part number covers both models — the fuel gauge calibration and charge termination logic carry over between them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the H8i platform. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, charge termination fired at the correct cutoff voltage, and ANC draw did not trigger any protection events.
  • Fuel gauge reset after swap: After fitting this cell, let the headphones discharge fully until they power off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before use. Skipping this step leaves the fuel gauge reading from the old cell's history, which causes the battery indicator to report inaccurate levels from the first use.

Why the H8i shows a full charge bar but cuts out during ANC use

ANC draws a separate continuous current on top of the audio amplifier load. When the cell has aged, its internal resistance rises enough that combined ANC-plus-amp draw causes a voltage sag the BMS reads as a low-cell event — even if the reported state of charge looks healthy. The headphones shut down to protect the cell. A new cell at lower internal resistance eliminates the sag that triggers that cutoff. After fitting the replacement, run the full discharge-recharge calibration cycle so the fuel gauge tracks the new cell accurately.

Battery indicator stuck at one bar well before audio actually stops

This happens when shallow charging — topping off at 60–80% repeatedly without ever completing a full cycle — causes the fuel gauge to lose track of the cell's true capacity endpoints. The indicator hits its lowest threshold early because the calibration floor is set too high. It is not a fault with the new cell. Discharge fully until the headphones power off automatically, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session; that resets the calibration endpoints and the indicator will track correctly down to the real 3.0V cutoff floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

My H8i headphones show a full charge after fitting the new battery but power off after a short listening session — what's wrong?

The fuel gauge is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell and is misreporting state of charge. The BMS cuts power when the cell voltage drops below its protection threshold, even though the indicator looks healthy. Discharge the headphones completely until they shut themselves off, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single full cycle resets the calibration endpoints and the indicator will track correctly against the new cell's actual capacity.

Audio is distorting and cutting in and out at moderate volume even though the battery indicator isn't near empty — is the new cell faulty?

This is a voltage sag issue, not a faulty cell. The amplifier in the H8i draws a sharp current spike at higher output levels; if the cell isn't fully charged, that spike pulls cell voltage down momentarily, and the amplifier clips or the BMS trips before the indicator reaches empty. Charge the cell fully to 4.2V before your first listening session and repeat the full discharge-recharge calibration cycle — sag at moderate volume should stop once the cell is operating from a fully charged baseline.

The H8i won't respond to the USB-C charging cable at all after the battery was completely flat for several weeks — how do I recover it?

A deeply discharged Li-Polymer cell can drop below the minimum voltage USB-C Power Delivery will negotiate with, so the charging circuit never initiates. Leave the cable connected for 15–20 minutes without expecting any indicator response — some chargers will trickle current into a deeply discharged cell before the main charge stage begins. If there is still no response after that, try a different USB-C charger rated at least 5V/1A, as lower-output chargers sometimes fail to meet the PD handshake threshold needed to wake the H8i's charge controller.
