Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Tigermedia Tigerbox Touch — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (785273P)
This is a 3.7V, 3900mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Tigermedia Tigerbox Touch, Tigerbox Touch Radio Play Box, and model 1233. It slots in where the original cell has degraded and no longer holds a charge through a full listening session.
- Tigerbox Touch and Radio Play Box compatibility: These models share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 785273P part number covers all three variants — the voltage rail and physical footprint (74 × 52 × 9mm) are identical across the range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Tigerbox Touch's charge controller and confirmed the BMS accepted the pack without a fault flag. Charge acceptance was normal, cell temperature stayed within the controller's threshold, and the fuel gauge registered correctly at both ends of the cycle.
- Fuel gauge calibration tip: The Tigerbox Touch fuel gauge drifts if the pack never fully discharges. Let the device play until it powers itself off — do this once a month — then charge to 100% without interruption. This recalibrates the gauge and keeps the charge indicator accurate.
Tigerbox Touch showing full charge but audio cuts out after an hour
This happens when the fuel gauge has drifted after months of shallow cycling — the device reports 100% but the cell's actual capacity is a fraction of that. The Tigerbox Touch's BMS will hard-cut the output once cell voltage sags below its minimum threshold, even if the indicator still shows bars. A full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% is the first step. If the cutout persists after two of those cycles, the original cell has degraded past recovery and replacement is the fix.
Audio distorting before the battery indicator reaches empty
The Tigerbox Touch's amplifier draws a sharp current spike at higher volume levels. As the cell ages and internal resistance rises, that spike causes a momentary voltage sag — the amplifier clips because it can't draw enough current cleanly, and you hear distortion before the battery indicator shows low. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance eliminates the sag. After fitting this replacement, confirm the issue is resolved by playing at full volume when the battery reads between 30–40%; if distortion is gone at that point, the old cell's resistance was the cause.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Tigerbox Touch won't charge at all after the battery went completely flat — the charging light doesn't come on. What's wrong?
When a lithium-polymer cell drops below roughly 2.5V, the USB charge controller won't initiate a charge cycle because the cell voltage is below the PD minimum acceptance threshold. Plug the Tigerbox Touch into a wall adapter (not a PC USB port, which may not supply enough current to wake the pack) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without checking — the controller performs a slow trickle pre-charge before switching to normal rate. If the charging indicator still doesn't appear after 40 minutes on a wall adapter, the cell has over-discharged past recovery and needs replacing.
The Tigerbox Touch gets noticeably warm around the back during long play sessions — is that the battery?
It's a combination of two heat sources: the amplifier generates heat during extended playback, and the Li-polymer cell adds discharge heat inside the same compact housing. The fabric and plastic enclosure traps both. This is within normal operating range on a healthy cell, but if the device shuts itself off mid-play and the surface is hot to touch, the BMS has triggered a thermal cutoff. Let it cool for 10–15 minutes with airflow around it before restarting. If thermal shutdowns repeat on a new battery, check the speaker isn't sitting on a soft surface like a bed or sofa that blocks the rear vents.
Bluetooth keeps dropping on the Tigerbox Touch only when volume is turned up high — fine at low volume. What causes that?
At high volume, the amplifier pulls a hard current spike that — combined with the Bluetooth radio's steady draw — causes the cell voltage to sag momentarily. An aged cell with elevated internal resistance can't supply both loads cleanly, and the radio module brownouts briefly, dropping the Bluetooth connection. The fix is a fresh cell with lower internal resistance. After fitting this replacement, test at maximum volume; the connection should hold steady because the new cell can deliver the combined amp-plus-radio current without the voltage dip.
