Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bard Medsystems Site Rite 5 / Site Rite 6 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (9770066)
This is a 10.8V, 5200mAh (56.16Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Bard Medsystems Site Rite 5 and Site Rite 6 ultrasound systems. Both units are handheld vascular access devices that use real-time ultrasound imaging to locate veins during clinical procedures. OEM part numbers 9770066 and NF2040HD24 both apply to the internal battery position on these two platforms.
- Site Rite 5 and 6 shared battery platform: Both systems run the same 10.8V internal battery rail with an identical connector and BMS handshake protocol. The shared form factor — 213 × 52.2 × 19mm — fits either device without modification to the battery bay.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Site Rite 5 power-on sequence and confirmed the BMS completed its initialisation handshake without fault codes. The pack held voltage above 9.9V under simulated probe-active load across multiple imaging cycles.
- Post-installation calibration on the Site Rite 5 and 6: After fitting a new battery, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before clinical deployment. The Site Rite maps cell state during that sequence, and skipping it causes the low-battery indicator to fire early — sometimes within the first imaging session.
BMS lockout on the Site Rite 5 after the unit sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-ion cells self-discharge over storage. If the Site Rite 5 sat unused for several months, the internal pack can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or roughly 7.5V pack voltage. Below that point, the BMS locks out charge input as a safety measure and the device will not respond to the charger. To recover the pack, connect it to the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without interruption — some BMS controllers require a trickle-charge window before they re-enable the main charge path.
Site Rite 5 shuts down at the moment the probe module initialises
When the Site Rite 5 powers up the probe, the transducer draw spikes sharply for a fraction of a second. On an aged or partially discharged battery, that current spike pulls cell voltage below the BMS undervoltage cutoff, and the system shuts down immediately — often before the imaging screen appears. The fault looks like a power button failure but it is a voltage event. Charge the battery fully to at least 12.4V before the next startup, then power on the device before activating the probe from the menu rather than cold-starting with the probe already connected.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Site Rite 5 powers on fine but shuts off the moment the probe image activates — is the battery causing this?
Yes. Probe initialisation pulls a short current spike that drops cell voltage fast. If the pack is not fully charged, the BMS reads that drop as an undervoltage condition and cuts power before the image loads. Charge the battery until the indicator shows full — pack voltage should reach at least 12.4V — then power on the device before connecting or activating the probe.
The Site Rite 5 battery percentage jumps around or resets to a different number each time the unit reboots — what is happening?
The Site Rite 5 maps battery state during its calibration cycle. A new or recently swapped pack has not yet been characterised by the instrument, so the voltage-threshold indicator reads inconsistently across reboots. Run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu after fitting the new battery — once the instrument has mapped the cell's discharge curve, the percentage display stabilises.
This replacement battery will not take a charge after months of storage — the charger light never changes state.
Deep storage drops cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold, around 7.5V for a 10.8V three-cell pack. Below that level, the BMS blocks normal charge input to prevent damage. Connect the battery to the charger and leave it undisturbed for 30 to 45 minutes — the BMS on most packs in this class requires a sustained low-current window before it re-enables the main charge path. If the charger light shifts state after that window, the pack is recovering; if there is no change after 60 minutes, the cells have dropped below recoverable voltage.
