Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tektronix REI DPA-7000 / TPS2000B Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 11.1V, 5200mAh lithium-ion pack replaces the original battery in the Tektronix REI DPA-7000 professional survey instrument and the TPS2000B series portable oscilloscopes, including the TPS2012B and TPS2014B. It shares the same voltage rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake profile across these models. Capacity figure is 5200mAh (57.72Wh) as specified in the product data.
- REI DPA-7000 and TPS2000B series compatibility: These instruments share a common 11.1V three-cell architecture and the same physical connector pinout. The BMS on each model expects the same charge-termination voltage and protection thresholds, so one pack covers the entire group without firmware conflicts or indicator errors.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through probe module initialisation events and sustained sensor logging loads. The BMS held within spec at each power-up current spike and did not trip during continuous measurement draws across multiple charge cycles.
- First-use calibration on the DPA-7000: After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before heading into the field. The DPA-7000 maps battery state during calibration. Skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session, even when the pack is fully charged.
BMS lockout after the DPA-7000 sat unused in a carry case for months
Lithium-ion cells self-discharge slowly during long storage. If the pack drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a protective sleep state and the instrument will not power on or begin charging. This is not a dead pack — it is a protection circuit doing its job. Connecting the charger for 15–30 minutes at low current usually brings the cells above the recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes. If the charger shows no activity at all, try a different known-good cable and adapter before concluding the pack is unrecoverable.
DPA-7000 shuts down mid-measurement with the battery indicator still showing charge
This happens when the cells can no longer hold voltage under the sustained current draw of active probe modules and RF front-end circuits, even though the resting voltage looked acceptable. The instrument's low-voltage cutoff triggers from the loaded voltage, not the idle reading the indicator sampled at power-on. A pack that reads 11.1V at rest may sag below the 9V cutoff threshold the moment sensor load kicks in. Replacing the pack and re-running the calibration cycle so the instrument re-maps the new cell curve will stop the unexpected shutdowns.

Frequently Asked Questions
The DPA-7000 powers on fine but resets or loses the measurement log the moment I start a USB transfer to my PC — is that the battery?
Yes. USB data transfer adds a second load path on top of the active measurement circuit, and an aged or partially discharged pack sags enough under that combined draw to trigger a brown-out reset before the instrument can write the log to disk. The pack itself may still show a reasonable charge percentage, because the indicator is reading resting voltage, not loaded voltage. Swap in this fully charged replacement and re-run the instrument calibration cycle, then retry the transfer — the logged data will survive the session.
The battery percentage on the TPS2014B jumps around at reboot — shows 80%, then 40% two minutes later. What is causing that?
The TPS2014B maps its fuel gauge against a voltage-threshold table calibrated to the original cells. When a new pack is installed, the instrument has no charge history and reads raw terminal voltage, which can land at different points on the curve depending on how recently the pack was charged or rested. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through normal instrument use and let the instrument complete its calibration routine each time. After that, the displayed percentage will stabilise and track accurately against the new cells.
New pack installed, charger connected, but the DPA-7000 shows no charging activity and the indicator light stays off — what do I do?
If the pack shipped or was stored at a low state of charge and cell voltage dropped below 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters sleep mode and blocks the charge circuit entirely. Leave the charger connected for at least 20 minutes using a wall adapter rated at the correct voltage — do not use a low-current USB port. That trickle current is usually enough to bring all three cells above 2.8V per cell, at which point the BMS wakes, the indicator light activates, and normal charging begins.
