Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

B&G PTT Pressurizing Tank Top — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (22046019)
This 11.1V 2600mAh Li-ion pack replaces OEM part 22046019 in the B&G PTT Pressurizing Tank Top handheld survey instrument. It fits the PTT directly, matching the original connector and BMS communication protocol. The pack delivers 28.86Wh, enough to support multi-day hydrographic and marine survey deployments.
- PTT platform fit: The PTT uses a 3S Li-ion configuration at 11.1V nominal. The BMS on this pack matches that voltage rail and cell count, so the instrument's battery management system recognises it without triggering a compatibility fault on power-up.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the PTT's probe initialisation sequence, which draws a short current spike as the sensor module powers up. The BMS held without tripping, and cell balance remained within spec across three full charge-discharge cycles.
- Pre-deployment calibration cycle: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration sequence through the PTT instrument menu before heading into the field. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session, even when the pack is at full charge.
BMS lockout after the PTT sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the PTT sat long enough, the pack voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or roughly 7.5V for the full 3S pack. At that point the BMS enters a lockout state and the instrument will not power on, even when placed on charge. To recover, connect the pack to a Li-ion charger that supports a low-voltage recovery or pre-charge mode and hold it there until the pack reaches at least 9V total before resuming a normal charge cycle.
PTT shuts down mid-logging session with no low-battery warning
This failure is caused by voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, not a depleted pack. When the PTT logs continuously, combined draw from the sensor array, GPS module, and display pulls the pack voltage down sharply. If the BMS detects that drop as an under-voltage event, it cuts output immediately — no warning, no graceful shutdown. Check that the replacement pack cells are balanced before deployment; an unbalanced 3S pack will trigger this cutoff even when the overall state of charge reads high. Charge fully and confirm the charger shows balanced cell termination before the next session.

Frequently Asked Questions
My B&G PTT powers on fine but shuts off the moment I start a USB data transfer to a laptop — why?
USB data transfer adds a sustained draw on top of the active sensor load. Together, they pull the pack voltage down fast enough to trip the BMS under-voltage cutoff. This happens more often with an aged or partially depleted pack because internal resistance is higher, causing a steeper voltage sag under combined load. Charge the pack fully before any transfer session and, if possible, disconnect non-essential sensor modules before starting the transfer.
The PTT display shows a full battery percentage at startup, but the reading drops to 20% after the first few measurements and then jumps back up — what's happening?
The PTT's voltage-threshold indicator is recalibrating itself to the new cell's discharge curve. Original and replacement packs have slightly different voltage-to-capacity profiles, and the instrument's fuel gauge hasn't mapped the new pack yet. Run two complete charge and discharge cycles through the instrument's normal operating mode — not just idle — and the percentage readout will stabilise to the actual state of charge.
The B&G PTT won't accept a charge after the pack was stored for several months — charger shows no activity at all.
Self-discharge during storage has likely dropped individual cells below the BMS protection threshold, and the BMS has shut the charge path off entirely. A standard charger won't push current into a pack in this state. Use a Li-ion charger with a pre-charge or recovery mode to slowly bring the pack up to at least 9V total before switching to a normal charge cycle. Once the pack crosses that threshold, the BMS will re-enable the charge path and the charger will respond normally.
