Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fluke Memobox — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (5x2-3A600)
This is a 6V 1100mAh Ni-MH battery pack for the Fluke Memobox portable data logging and survey instrument. It replaces OEM part 5x2-3A600 and fits both the Memobox and Analyzers Memobox configurations. Capacity is 1100mAh (6.6Wh), matching the original specification.
- Memobox and Analyzers Memobox compatibility: Both units share the same 6V bus, physical form factor, and BMS handshake protocol — this pack covers either variant without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Memobox charge and discharge sequence, confirmed BMS communication at start-up, and verified the cell voltage held within spec across sustained sensor logging load.
- First-use calibration cycle: After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before taking it into the field. The Memobox maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session.
BMS lockout after the Memobox sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH cells self-discharge over time, and if the pack drops below roughly 4.8V total, the BMS enters a protection state and refuses to accept a standard charge cycle. The Memobox charger interprets this as a faulty pack and stops the charge sequence before the cells recover. To break the lockout, apply a slow pre-charge at low current — most multi-chemistry chargers have a conditioning or recovery mode that handles this. Once the pack climbs back above 5.4V, the BMS clears the lockout and normal charging resumes.
Memobox shuts down mid-logging session with no low-battery warning
This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor load, not a capacity issue. When the instrument drives multiple probe channels simultaneously, the combined current draw pulls cell voltage down sharply — enough to trip the BMS undervoltage threshold before the display has time to flag a warning. The instrument cuts power to protect the cells. Charge the pack fully, then reduce simultaneous probe channels if the shutdown repeats. A healthy pack should hold above 5.4V under normal logging load; if it collapses below that under light load, the cells need replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Memobox powers on fine but shuts off the moment I start a USB data transfer to my PC — is that a battery problem?
Yes. USB data transfer adds a significant draw on top of the instrument's normal operating load, and if the pack is partially discharged, the combined current pull drops cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold. The instrument shuts down to protect the cells before you see a low-battery warning. Charge the pack fully before running any PC transfers. If shutdowns persist on a full charge, check that the USB cable is not also trying to power the instrument — that back-feeds the circuit and can confuse the BMS into a false cutoff.
After fitting the new pack, the battery percentage on the Memobox display jumps around or shows the wrong level for the first few uses — what is causing that?
The Memobox uses a voltage-threshold indicator that was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, worn cells. A new pack holds a flatter, higher voltage across the discharge range, so the instrument misreads state-of-charge until it recalibrates. Run two or three full charge-and-discharge cycles through normal instrument use, and run the calibration routine from the instrument menu after the first cycle. The display percentage stabilises once the instrument has mapped the new pack's actual voltage curve.
The Memobox shows a battery error on screen after the instrument was stored over winter — the pack won't charge at all now.
Ni-MH cells left at a low state of charge self-discharge past the BMS recovery threshold over several months. When voltage drops below approximately 4.8V, the BMS flags a fault and blocks the standard charge input — which is what the error screen is reporting. Use a charger with a conditioning or recovery mode to trickle current into the pack until total voltage climbs back above 5.4V. Once the BMS clears the fault, reconnect to the Memobox charger and complete a normal full charge before use.
