Fits Geospace GSB-LHR Line Health Recorder seismic data logger; replaces OEM battery 1ICR55/35/46.
3.7V, 800mAh lithium-ion cell powers portable geophone sensors during extended field survey missions without mid-session power loss.
Cylindrical cell fits the GSB-LHR battery slot with spring-contact retention; no locking tab—seat firmly until it stops.
We bench-tested this cell in a GSB-LHR under sustained sensor load; BMS held steady voltage throughout a full logging cycle with no premature cutoff.
Before deploying to the field, run one complete measurement cycle through the instrument menu after installation—the GSB-LHR maps battery voltage during this calibration, and skipping it triggers false low-battery warnings on the first survey run.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GEOSPACE GSB-LHR Line Health Recorder — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1ICR55/35/46)

This 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the GEOSPACE GSB-LHR Line Health Recorder. The GSB-LHR is a portable seismic data logging unit used in oil and gas surveys, geotechnical investigations, and earthquake monitoring deployments. Voltage and capacity match the OEM specification exactly — 3.7V nominal, 800mAh (2.96Wh).

  • GSB-LHR and Line Health Recorder fit: Both designations refer to the same instrument platform. The cell format — 49.80 × 34.00 × 5.60mm — matches the internal battery bay, and the BMS handshake operates on the same voltage rail as the original pack.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through sensor initialisation events and sustained logging loads. The BMS held without tripping on the current spike at probe power-up, and voltage remained stable under continuous acquisition draw.
  • Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The GSB-LHR maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first active logging session.

BMS cutoff during seismic sensor initialisation on the GSB-LHR

When the GSB-LHR powers up a connected geophone or sensor string, it draws a short surge current to initialise the probe circuit. A worn or deeply discharged cell can't sustain that spike, and the BMS trips as a protection response — cutting power instantly. This looks like the instrument shutting off at startup, not a charging fault. The replacement cell's fresh capacity handles the initialisation surge without the voltage rail collapsing below the BMS cutoff threshold.

GSB-LHR not recognising a new pack after the unit sat in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the GSB-LHR sat unused long enough, the cell voltage can drop below the BMS re-initialisation threshold — typically around 2.5V — and the pack enters sleep mode. The instrument then fails to detect any battery at all, or shows a battery error on screen. To recover, connect the charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on; most BMS circuits re-initialise once the cell rises above 2.8V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GSB-LHR powers on fine but shuts off the moment it starts recording — is that a battery issue?

Yes — sustained sensor load during active logging draws more current than idle power-on state, and a degraded cell's voltage sags below the BMS cutoff under that load. The instrument interprets the voltage drop as a depleted pack and cuts out. This is a cell capacity failure, not a firmware or sensor fault. Fit the replacement cell, run the calibration cycle through the instrument menu, then test under live acquisition.

Readings on the GSB-LHR keep drifting or resetting mid-session even though the battery indicator looks fine.

Voltage dropout under sustained acquisition load causes the instrument's reference voltage to fluctuate, which corrupts active measurement data even before the battery indicator trips. The display indicator lags behind actual cell voltage — it doesn't update fast enough to catch brief sag events during high-draw logging. The fix is a fresh cell with full capacity, not a firmware reset. After fitting this battery, confirm resting voltage reads at or above 3.7V before deploying.

The GSB-LHR shuts off every time I transfer data to a PC over USB — battery reads 80% before I plug in.

USB data transfer adds a second concurrent load on top of the instrument's own draw — the combined current pull can push a partially degraded cell below its BMS cutoff threshold even at an indicated 80%. The battery percentage shown is a voltage estimate, not a direct capacity reading, so the figure overstates real available charge as the cell ages. A new cell at full charge handles the combined USB and instrument load without the voltage rail collapsing. Charge to 100% before the next transfer session.
