Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Leica BLK2GO Handheld Imaging Laser Scanner — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GEB821)
This 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the GEB821 (OEM ref 879638) in the Leica BLK2GO handheld imaging laser scanner. The BLK2GO captures real-time point clouds and LiDAR data on active job sites — a battery failure mid-scan means lost data and a return trip. This pack restores full scan sessions without pulling the unit from rotation.
- BLK2GO platform fit: The BLK2GO uses a regulated 7.4V rail to power the spinning LiDAR mirror array, IMU, and onboard compute simultaneously. The GEB821 form factor locks this specific cell configuration and connector into that power envelope — any deviation in voltage or connector pinout causes the scanner to reject the pack at startup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through BLK2GO power-on and active scan load cycles. The BMS held stable across the IMU initialisation spike and sustained sensor draw, and the scanner's battery indicator tracked state-of-charge correctly through the full discharge curve.
- Post-install calibration on the BLK2GO: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the BLK2GO instrument menu before field deployment. The scanner maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings to appear during your first scan session, even with a fully charged pack.
BMS lockout after the BLK2GO sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-ion cells in storage self-discharge slowly. If the BLK2GO and its battery sat dormant long enough, the cell voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point the BMS locks the pack into a protection state and the scanner will not power on at all, even when placed on charge. A standard charger may not deliver enough trickle current to pull the pack back above the recovery threshold. Connect the pack to a compatible Leica charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power the scanner — most packs recover once cells reach 3.0V per cell.
BLK2GO display showing inconsistent battery percentage after fitting a new pack
The BLK2GO's battery indicator is calibrated against the discharge curve of the original GEB821 cells. When a new pack is installed, the scanner's internal voltage-threshold mapping hasn't yet seen a full charge-discharge cycle on the new cells, so the percentage reading jumps or reads low relative to actual capacity. This is not a fault in the pack — it's the instrument recalibrating its reference points. Run two complete charge and discharge cycles through normal scanning use, and the percentage display will stabilise to accurate readings by the third cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BLK2GO shuts down mid-scan even though the battery indicator showed over 50% — what's happening?
Under sustained LiDAR and IMU load, voltage sags faster than the indicator updates, and if the pack's cells have degraded, the sag crosses the BMS cutoff threshold before the display catches up. We saw this on the bench when running continuous scan cycles — the displayed percentage lags real cell voltage by several seconds under full draw. Fit a fresh pack and run the calibration cycle through the instrument menu so the scanner remaps the discharge curve. After two full field cycles the indicator and actual capacity will track together.
The BLK2GO powers on but cuts out as soon as I start a USB data transfer to the PC — is this a battery issue?
Yes — USB data transfer adds a second draw on top of the active compute load, and together they can push total current draw above what a partially discharged or weakened pack can sustain without triggering BMS cutoff. We measured a noticeable combined-load spike during transfer initiation on the bench. Charge the pack fully before any data offload session, and verify the cell is above 8.0V total (4.0V per cell) before starting the transfer.
The BLK2GO won't recognise the new pack at all after the scanner was in storage — the screen stays blank even on charge
The most likely cause is the BMS entering deep sleep below its recovery voltage after prolonged storage. The scanner can't handshake with a pack the BMS has locked. Connect the pack to a Leica-compatible charger independently of the scanner and hold it on trickle charge for 30–60 minutes. Once cell voltage climbs above 3.0V per cell, reinsert the pack into the BLK2GO and attempt power-on.
