Fits RAE Systems RAE029-0695000 multi-gas detectors and RAELink 3 wireless transmitter models, replaces OEM part 029-3501-000.
7.4V lithium-ion cell rated 1800mAh delivers stable voltage across gas probe initialization and sustained sensor logging without dropout.
Connector seats flush into the battery door; locking tab aligns with the slot on the instrument frame for secure seating.
We bench-tested this pack in the RAE029 platform and confirmed the BMS accepts the handshake without fault codes on insertion.
After installation, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment — the detector maps battery voltage during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

RAE Systems RAE029-0695000 / RAELink 3 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (029-3501-000)

This is a 7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for RAE Systems multi-gas detectors and wireless transmitters. It fits the RAE029-0695000, RAELink 3 Mesh, RAELink 3 Mesh Radio, and RAELink 3 Wireless Transmitter. Capacity is 13.32Wh, matching the OEM spec from RAE Systems part number 029-3501-000.

  • RAELink 3 and RAE029-0695000 compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V battery rail, connector footprint, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell pack services the full group — no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a RAELink 3 Mesh unit and cycled through sensor initialisation and active RF transmission. The BMS held steady through the current spike at radio power-up and did not trip during sustained sensor polling.
  • Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The RAE Systems firmware maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during the first measurement session, even with a full charge.

BMS lockout after a RAELink 3 unit sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion cells in low-draw standby devices self-discharge slowly over months. If the pack voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS trips into deep-discharge protection and the instrument will not power on or charge normally. This is not a dead battery — it is a protection state. Applying a charger at that point often shows no charge activity because the BMS is blocking current input. To recover the pack, connect it to a compatible charger for at least 30 minutes without interruption; some chargers require a trickle-charge wake cycle before full charge current resumes.

Readings drifting or logging session resetting mid-run

Under sustained sensor load — particularly when multiple gas sensors are actively polling — the battery voltage can sag below the instrument's stable-operation threshold without the low-battery indicator triggering first. The firmware interprets this momentary voltage dropout as a fault condition and resets the active logging session. This is not a sensor fault. Check the battery voltage under load using the instrument's diagnostic menu; if it reads below 6.8V during active sensor use, the cell capacity has degraded and the pack needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

The RAELink 3 powers on fine but shuts off the moment it starts a USB data transfer to a connected PC — what's happening?

USB data transfer adds a combined draw on top of active sensor polling, and if the cell capacity has degraded even partially, that combined load pulls voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold. The instrument reads this as a fault and shuts down to protect the hardware. It is not a firmware or cable issue. Replace the battery and confirm voltage holds above 7.0V during transfer using the instrument's diagnostic menu before the next field session.

The RAELink 3 Mesh won't take a charge after sitting in storage — charger shows no activity at all.

Self-discharge during extended storage can push cell voltage below the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.5V per cell. At that point the BMS blocks charge current entirely, so the charger shows nothing. Leave the battery connected to a compatible charger for at least 30 minutes without unplugging — some chargers will initiate a trickle-wake cycle that pulls the cells back above the recovery threshold before switching to normal charge current. If the charger shows no activity after 45 minutes, the cells have dropped too low to recover.

The battery percentage display jumps around erratically after a reboot — shows 80%, then 20%, then back up. Is the instrument faulty?

The RAE Systems firmware calibrates its voltage-threshold indicator against the installed cell's discharge curve. A new pack has a slightly different resting voltage profile than the worn cell it replaced, and the indicator recalibrates over the first few charge-discharge cycles. Run two full charge and discharge cycles through normal field use, then run the calibration cycle from the instrument menu. The percentage readout stabilises once the firmware has mapped the new cell's actual voltage curve.
