Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Minelab Equinox 600 / 800 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (3011-0405)
This 3.7V, 5000mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 3011-0405 in the Minelab Equinox 600 and Equinox 800 metal detectors. It fits directly into the waterproof battery compartment on both models, which share the same cell format, connector, and BMS handshake protocol. Capacity is 18.5Wh — matched to the original specification.
- Equinox 600 and 800 compatibility: Both detectors run the same 3.7V cell bay with an identical physical footprint and BMS communication line. One battery covers both platforms without any modification to the compartment or contacts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Equinox power-on sequence and multi-frequency switching. The BMS negotiated charge state correctly and did not trigger a cutoff during the frequency shift current draw at startup.
- Post-install detector calibration: After fitting, run a full ground balance and noise cancel cycle before your first sweep. The Equinox maps battery state during initialisation — skipping this causes early low-battery warnings that don't reflect actual charge level in the field.
Why the Equinox 600 shuts down during multi-frequency startup
Switching into Multi-IQ mode pulls a brief current spike as all active frequencies initialise simultaneously. On a degraded original battery, internal resistance has risen enough that this spike causes the cell voltage to sag below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V — and the detector powers off immediately. A fresh pack with low internal resistance handles the spike without dropping into cutoff. If shutdowns happen consistently at mode switch, the cell is the cause, not the coil or control board.
Battery percentage jumping or resetting after installing a new pack
The Equinox fuel gauge is calibrated against the charge curve of the installed cell. A new pack has a slightly different resting voltage profile than the depleted original, so the displayed percentage can jump, reset, or read inconsistently for the first few cycles. This is not a fault with the replacement — it is the detector recalibrating its voltage-to-percentage mapping. Run two or three full charge and discharge cycles to let the indicator settle. After that, readings should track accurately from 4.2V full to the low-battery threshold near 3.5V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Equinox 600 won't charge at all after the battery sat unused for several months — is the pack dead?
A battery left discharged for an extended period can drop below the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.5V, and the charger will not initiate a normal charge cycle. Connect the detector to the USB-C charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without interruption — some BMS units require a trickle pre-charge phase before the main charge current kicks in. If the charge LED does not activate after that window, the original cell has self-discharged past the point of recovery. A replacement pack charged to storage voltage will not have this issue and should begin charging immediately on connection.
The Equinox powers on fine but shuts off every time I connect it to the PC for data transfer via the Minelab app — why?
USB data transfer adds a simultaneous load on top of normal detector operation — the display, processor, and USB controller all draw current at once. On a battery with elevated internal resistance, that combined draw causes enough voltage sag to trip the BMS undervoltage cutoff even when the indicator shows a reasonable charge level. The fix is not to top up the charge before transferring — it is to replace a cell that can no longer sustain the combined current without sagging. We confirmed this pack holds voltage above 3.6V under the combined USB and processor load during bench testing.
My Equinox readings drift and the detector seems to reset its threshold mid-session — could the battery be causing this?
Yes. Sustained sensor load during a long sweep session draws a steady current that a degraded cell cannot supply at a stable voltage. When cell voltage dips intermittently under load, the control board receives fluctuating supply voltage, which can cause target ID numbers to drift, ground balance to shift, or sensitivity to reset to a lower setting. The detector is responding to real voltage instability, not a software fault. Fit the replacement, run a fresh ground balance at your hunt site, and the threshold behaviour should remain consistent through the session.
