Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Minelab Sovereign XS — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P3-XS)
This 11.1V 2600mAh (28.86Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Minelab Sovereign XS metal detector. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector configuration for the Sovereign XS platform. Capacity figures are taken directly from the product specification, not estimated from third-party sources.
- Sovereign XS platform fit: The Sovereign XS runs a dedicated 11.1V three-cell Li-ion architecture. This replacement uses the same cell configuration and connector pinout, so the detector's internal charge management circuit communicates with the pack correctly without triggering a pack-rejection fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Sovereign XS power-on sequence and confirmed the BMS held voltage within the detector's operating window across full draw conditions. No cutoff events occurred during standard coil-active operation.
- First-use initialisation on the Sovereign XS: After fitting this pack, run the detector through a full power-on and ground balance cycle before heading into the field. The Sovereign XS maps battery state during that initialisation sequence — skipping it causes the low-battery indicator to trigger early on the first outing, even with a fully charged pack.
Why the Sovereign XS throws a low-battery warning immediately after fitting a new pack
The Sovereign XS monitors battery state against a stored voltage threshold from the previous pack. When you fit a new cell with a different resting voltage curve, the detector compares the new pack's open-circuit voltage against that old reference and flags it as low. This is not a fault with the replacement battery — it is a calibration gap. Running a full ground balance cycle resets the reference and clears the warning. After one complete field session, the indicator tracks accurately.
Sovereign XS powers on but shuts off when the coil begins active sweep
The Sovereign XS coil draws a short current spike the moment it starts actively transmitting. If the battery pack has been in storage and the BMS has entered a low-voltage protection state, that initialisation spike trips the BMS cutoff before the detector reaches stable operation. Measure the pack's resting voltage — if it reads below 9.0V, the BMS needs a recovery charge before normal use. Connect to a compatible Li-ion charger and allow a trickle pre-charge cycle to bring the pack above the 9.0V recovery threshold before attempting to power the detector again.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Sovereign XS sat unused for several months and now the battery won't charge at all — is the pack dead?
Probably not dead, but the BMS has entered deep-discharge lockout. Li-ion cells left below roughly 2.5V per cell trigger a protection cutoff that blocks normal charging. Connect the pack to a Li-ion charger that supports a pre-charge or recovery mode and leave it for 30–60 minutes — this trickles current past the BMS lockout threshold. Once the pack climbs above 9.0V total, the BMS releases and standard charging resumes normally.
The Sovereign XS display shows a full battery at switch-on, then drops to one bar within a few minutes of detecting — what's causing that?
This is voltage sag under load, not a faulty battery indicator. The coil's transmit circuit draws sustained current that pulls the pack's terminal voltage down from its resting level. If the cells have aged or the pack is fresh out of storage, the sag is steeper and the detector reads it as a low-charge condition. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles to let the cells stabilise at their rated capacity, and the indicator will level out.
After replacing the battery, the Sovereign XS resets its settings mid-session — is the new pack causing this?
Yes, intermittent resets during a session point to a momentary voltage dropout rather than a settings fault. The Sovereign XS resets to defaults when supply voltage dips below its minimum operating threshold, even briefly. Check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partially engaged connector increases contact resistance and amplifies voltage drop under coil load. Push the connector firmly until it clicks, then retest; if the resets stop, the connection was the cause.
