Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Shimpo FGE-X / FGV-X Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BFGG0200511)
This is a 4.8V 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Shimpo FGE-X, FGE-XY, FGV-X, FGV-XY, and six additional compatible models. It replaces OEM part numbers BFGG0200511, OSA312, FVE-BAT, and KRO6AA4. The FGE-X and FGV-X series are handheld digital force gauges used in manufacturing quality control and laboratory force measurement.
- FGE-X and FGV-X platform fit: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pin-out, and 4.8V supply rail. The instrument's BMS communicates charge state through a common protocol across the series, so one pack covers all listed models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the FGE-X charge and discharge sequence. The BMS accepted the pack immediately, reached full charge without thermal event, and held voltage within spec under sustained sensor load across repeated measurement sessions.
- Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the FGE-X instrument menu before taking field measurements. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes the low-battery indicator to trigger prematurely on the first measurement session.
FGE-X BMS lockout after the instrument sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH cells self-discharge even in storage. If the FGE-X sat unused for several months, the pack voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 1.0V per cell. When voltage falls that low, the BMS enters a protective sleep state and will not respond to a standard charge cycle. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 30–60 minutes before expecting any response from the instrument. Most chargers apply a low-current recovery pulse at this stage before resuming normal charge.
FGE-X shuts down during USB data transfer to a PC
USB data transfer adds a secondary current draw on top of the active sensor load. On a depleted or degraded pack, the combined draw causes a momentary voltage sag that trips the under-voltage cutoff. This looks like a random shutdown but is reproducible on low-charge cycles. Charge the pack fully before any logging or transfer session, and check that the USB cable is not also powering a connected hub drawing current back through the instrument.

Frequently Asked Questions
The FGE-X powers on fine but shuts off every time it connects to the PC via USB — is this a port issue or the battery?
It is the battery under combined load. The sensor circuit and USB transfer together draw more current than a partial or degraded Ni-MH pack can sustain without voltage sag. The BMS reads the sag as under-voltage and cuts the output. Charge the pack fully before any USB session and confirm the cable is not connected to a powered hub adding reverse current.
Readings were drifting and resetting mid-session even though the battery indicator showed half charge — what causes that?
Ni-MH cells can show a stable open-circuit voltage while losing the ability to hold that voltage under sustained sensor load. The FGE-X draws a consistent current during active measurement, and a cell with capacity fade will drop below the instrument's operating floor briefly — enough to reset or corrupt a reading without triggering a full shutdown. Swap the pack and re-run the calibration cycle through the instrument menu; the indicator will re-map to the new cell's actual capacity.
New pack installed, instrument charges it fully, but the low-battery warning keeps firing after just a few measurements — what went wrong?
The FGE-X maps battery state during the calibration routine. If you skipped that step after fitting the new pack, the instrument is still using the voltage thresholds it built for the old, degraded cells. Go into the instrument menu and run a full calibration cycle — this lets the firmware re-establish the low-voltage floor against the new pack's actual 4.8V baseline. The premature warning should stop after that cycle completes.
