Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

YSI ProDSS / ProSolo Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (626846)
This is a 3.7V 6800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the YSI ProDSS multiparameter water quality meter and ProSolo Digital Water Quality Meter. It also fits models 626870-1 and 626870-2. OEM part numbers covered: 626846, 626840 Rev A, and 626840 Rev B.
- ProDSS and ProSolo compatibility: Both instruments share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The ProDSS runs dissolved oxygen, conductivity, pH, and temperature probes simultaneously — that combined sensor load makes cell capacity and stable discharge voltage critical.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack under a simulated multi-probe load to confirm BMS communication with the instrument. Charge acceptance, cell balance, and cutoff thresholds all matched OEM behaviour across three full discharge cycles.
- Post-install calibration before field deployment: After fitting this battery, run a full calibration cycle through the ProDSS instrument menu before heading into the field. The instrument maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session, even with a fully charged pack.
BMS cutoff when probe modules initialise on the ProDSS
When the ProDSS powers up the sonde and activates multiple probe modules simultaneously, there is a brief current spike as each sensor initialises. If the battery's BMS has a low-impedance threshold set tightly — common in aged or deeply discharged packs — this spike can trip the protection circuit before the instrument finishes booting. The result looks like a random shutdown at startup, not a flat battery. A replacement pack with a healthy internal resistance reading clears this immediately.
Voltage dropout causing readings to reset mid-logging session
During sustained multi-parameter logging, the ProDSS draws continuous current across all active sensors. A degraded cell under this sustained load drops voltage below the instrument's operating floor, triggering a micro-reset that wipes the active log segment. The display may show a partial charge indicator right before the reset, which makes the cause hard to diagnose in the field. If logged data is cutting off mid-session without a low-battery warning, check that cell voltage under load stays above 3.4V at the battery terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ProDSS won't recognise the new battery after it sat in storage for months — just shows a blank screen or won't power on at all.
A pack that has sat below roughly 2.5V enters BMS sleep mode and the instrument cannot wake it through normal power-on. Connect the battery to the OEM charger for at least 15–20 minutes before inserting it into the ProDSS — most chargers include a trickle pre-charge stage that brings the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once the charger shows activity, let it reach at least 3.0V before installing in the instrument. The ProDSS should then recognise the pack and boot normally.
The ProDSS shuts down mid-measurement even though the battery indicator showed over 50% charge.
The ProDSS battery indicator is a voltage-threshold gauge, not a true capacity measurement. When the sonde activates multiple sensors under sustained load, cell voltage sags faster than the indicator tracks — the instrument sees the voltage floor and shuts down before the display catches up. This is a cell-health issue, not a calibration fault. A replacement pack with full cell capacity restores stable voltage under load; confirm the pack holds above 3.6V at rest after a full charge before deployment.
The ProDSS powers on and logs fine on its own, but shuts off every time I connect it to a PC for data transfer.
USB data transfer adds a second draw on top of active sensor load — the combined current pull can push a marginal battery past its BMS cutoff threshold. This only appears during transfer because that is the moment total system draw peaks. If the shutdown happens consistently at the USB handshake step, the cell can no longer sustain both loads simultaneously. Fit a fresh battery, charge it fully to 4.2V, and retry the transfer before assuming the port or cable is at fault.
