Fits Apple iPad Pro 11-inch 2nd gen (2020) and replaces OEM battery A2387.
3.82V, 10500mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full charge cycles to aging tablets.
Flex connector solders directly to iPad logic board; no external port.
Bench testing showed clean BMS negotiation with Apple's fuel gauge IC on first insertion.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then uninterrupted charge to 100% — this recalibrates the fuel gauge against the new cell and fixes inaccurate percentage display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd Gen) — 3.82V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (A2387)

This is a 3.82V, 10500mAh (40.11Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Apple iPad Pro 11-inch 2nd generation. It fits models A2378, A2379, A2461, and A2462, among others. The original Apple part number for this cell is A2387.

  • A2378 / A2379 / A2461 / A2462 platform fit: These models share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 3.82V nominal rail matches the charge IC specification across all four variants, so one cell covers the full 2nd-gen 11-inch lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and discharge cycles on an iPad Pro 11-inch 2nd-gen unit. The BMS accepted the first charge cycle cleanly, charge IC handshake completed without error flags, and the cell held voltage within spec across display and CPU load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and corrects the inaccurate percentage reading that almost always appears immediately after a battery swap.

Tablet shutting down at 15–25% remaining after battery replacement

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the voltage curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits the voltage range the IC previously associated with empty, it triggers a shutdown — even though actual capacity remains. The combined load of the ProMotion display and Wi-Fi creates a brief voltage sag that pushes the reading past the IC's cutoff threshold. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% and the shutdowns stop.

Fast charging not available after battery swap

iPadOS requires one complete accepted charge cycle before it fully negotiates USB-PD fast charging on a new cell. Until that cycle completes, the charge IC defaults to a conservative current limit. Connect to the original Apple 20W or 30W USB-C adapter and let the device charge from near zero to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle, USB-PD negotiation resumes at the full rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iPad Pro 11-inch shows 80% right after I installed the new battery — why is the percentage wrong?

The fuel gauge IC inside the iPad learned the voltage curve of your old, degraded cell over time. When a new cell is installed, the IC's calibration no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage profile, so the percentage displayed is inaccurate from the start. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single cycle the fuel gauge recalibrates against the new cell and the percentage display stabilises.

My iPad Pro 11-inch powers off at around 20% after the battery swap — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC triggers an automatic shutoff when voltage sags past a threshold it learned from the old cell. The display and Wi-Fi drawing simultaneous load causes a brief voltage drop that crosses that threshold, even though real capacity remains in the new cell. Discharge the tablet fully to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session. The IC recalibrates and the early shutoffs stop.

The iPad Pro feels warm near the top edge while charging with the new battery — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new cell is normal. The charge IC runs a slightly elevated current profile while it characterises the new cell's internal resistance and adjusts its algorithm. We measured surface temperatures on the bench during initial cycling and stayed well within Apple's thermal operating range. If the tablet becomes too hot to hold or charging stops repeatedly, check that the USB-C cable and adapter are delivering at least 9V / 2A output.
