Fits Barnes & Noble GlowLight Plus 7.8-inch e-reader, replaces OEM PR-285084 battery.
3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers rated capacity to power e-ink display and processor operations.
Connector seats flat against the battery contact pads with single mechanical locking tab engagement.
We bench-tested the cell in a GlowLight Plus unit; BMS accepted full charge cycle without fault codes.
After installation, discharge the device fully to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and fixes the inaccurate percentage display common after battery swaps.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Barnes & Noble GlowLight Plus 7.8 / BNRV700 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PR-285084)

This 3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the OEM cell in the Barnes & Noble GlowLight Plus 7.8 (model BNRV700) e-reader. It fits the PR-285084 slot directly and restores power to the e-ink display, processor, and front-lighting system. Use the capacity figure from the product data — 1500mAh / 5.55Wh — as the reference spec.

  • GlowLight Plus 7.8 and BNRV700 fit: Both model designations refer to the same hardware generation. They share the same battery bay dimensions (84.15 × 49.50 × 2.70mm), the same flex connector, and the same charge IC handshake — one cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a BNRV700 unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault flags, the charge IC reached termination cleanly, and voltage under e-ink refresh load held within spec.
  • Post-swap fuel gauge reset: After installing this battery, run the device down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The GlowLight's fuel gauge IC is calibrated against the old cell — skipping this cycle causes the percentage meter to read inaccurately from the first hour of use.

GlowLight Plus 7.8 shutting down at 15–25% remaining

The e-ink display refresh and front-lighting system draw current simultaneously when page turns happen. On a new cell the fuel gauge IC hasn't mapped the voltage curve yet, so it misreads a brief voltage dip under that combined load as a critically low state. The device triggers a protective shutdown before the cell is actually empty. One full discharge-to-shutoff and uninterrupted recharge cycle gives the fuel gauge enough data to map the real curve and stops the early cutoff.

Battery percentage jumping or dropping faster than expected from 100%

This is fuel gauge drift — the IC on the GlowLight uses coulomb counting referenced to the old cell's internal resistance profile. A new cell has lower internal resistance, so the same current draw reads as a larger state-of-charge drop than it actually is. The fix is a single calibration cycle: discharge fully until the device shuts itself off, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise at real values.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GlowLight Plus 7.8 says 20% battery and then just switches off — is the new battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The GlowLight's fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the resistance profile of the old cell, so it misreads a brief voltage dip during a page-turn refresh as a critically low state and triggers shutdown early. Run the device down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. One full cycle maps the new cell's voltage curve and the early shutdowns stop.

The percentage is dropping from 100% way faster than it did with the original battery — what's wrong?

This is fuel gauge drift, not a capacity problem. The coulomb counter in the GlowLight was calibrated against the worn cell's internal resistance — a fresh cell with lower resistance makes the same current draw appear as a larger percentage drop. Fully discharge the device to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single calibration cycle the percentage readings will track accurately.

The GlowLight Plus 7.8 won't turn on at all after the battery swap — the cell is showing 0% and the device is dead.

A lithium-polymer cell shipped at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.7V — can sit below the device's minimum boot threshold if the unit was left fully discharged before the swap. Connect the GlowLight to its charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the charge IC brings the cell above approximately 3.8V, the device will boot normally and the percentage will begin displaying.
