Yes. The charge IC runs a conditioning phase on a new cell during the first few charge cycles, which generates slightly more heat than a fully broken-in battery produces. Surface temperature during this phase is normal and not a sign of a fault. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or the charge stops before 100%, disconnect and check the charging brick — the issue is typically on the input side, not the battery.
