Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Dell Venue 8 Pro 3845 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (7KJTH)
This is a 3.7V, 4100mAh (15.17Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Dell Venue 8 Pro 3845 tablet. It replaces OEM part number 7KJTH and fits the internal battery bay of the 3845 model specifically. The cell dimensions are 135.9 × 82.70 × 3.80 mm — measure before ordering if you are unsure which 8-inch Venue variant you have.
- Venue 8 Pro 3845 fitment: The 3845 uses a flat Li-Polymer pouch cell with a specific connector orientation and BMS communication line that differs from other Venue 8 variants. This battery matches that connector and BMS handshake — do not assume other Venue 8 Pro models use the same cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the 3845 board. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC brought it to full termination voltage without interruption.
- Fuel gauge IC reset after installation: After fitting, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — do not force-power it off — then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. This single cycle recalibrates the fuel gauge IC against the new cell and corrects the inaccurate percentage readings that appear immediately after a swap.
Why the Venue 8 Pro 3845 shuts down between 15% and 25% remaining
The 3845 pulls simultaneous load from the display, WiFi radio, and Windows background processes during active use. At around 3.5V cell voltage, this combined draw creates a brief voltage sag that the BMS reads as a critically low condition and triggers a hard shutoff — even though the reported percentage still shows double digits. A degraded original cell hits this cliff earlier and more aggressively. Replacing the cell and running one full recalibration cycle moves the cutoff point back to where it belongs.
Fast charging not available after battery swap on the Venue 8 Pro 3845
Windows may report slow or standard charging only after a battery replacement, even with the original Dell charger. The charge IC on the 3845 board needs one completed accepted charge cycle — from a low state of charge to 100% without interruption — before it re-establishes the correct charging profile with the new cell. Do not interrupt the first charge. After that cycle completes, disconnect, restart the tablet, reconnect the charger, and confirm charge rate in Device Manager under the battery entry.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Venue 8 Pro 3845 shows a completely different battery percentage after I replaced the battery — it jumped from 40% to 10% in ten minutes. What's happening?
The fuel gauge IC on the 3845 board is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. It doesn't automatically remap to a new cell on first boot. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff — let Windows shut it down, don't force it — then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. That single full cycle resets the IC against the new cell's actual capacity and resolves the erratic percentage readings.
The Venue 8 Pro 3845 feels warm around the back near the battery while charging after the swap — is the new cell safe?
Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles is normal. The charge IC is measuring the new cell's internal resistance and adjusting termination parameters — this generates a small amount of heat that wasn't present with a broken-down original cell that barely accepted current. If the tablet becomes uncomfortable to hold or the back feels hot rather than warm, disconnect immediately and check that the battery connector is fully seated. Normal charging warmth stays well below 40°C and drops off after the first two or three cycles.
After fitting the new 7KJTH battery, the Venue 8 Pro 3845 percentage drops fast from 100% to around 70%, then slows down. Is the battery actually 4100mAh?
This is fuel gauge drift, not a capacity issue. The BMS is reading voltage in place of accurate charge state until it has a full reference cycle to work from. The cell capacity is correct at 4100mAh — the gauge just doesn't know where 100% ends and 0% begins yet on this specific cell. Discharge the tablet fully to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the tablet during that charge. After that cycle the percentage curve will track evenly across the full range.
