Replaces HP PR-3258128 battery for Stream 7 5700, 5700ng, and 5709 tablets.
Voltage 3.8V and 3000mAh capacity restore full charge cycles to aging tablets that shut down prematurely.
Connector slides into the original battery slot with keyed orientation — no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this cell against Stream 7 firmware; the fuel gauge IC accepted the new BMS on first charge without fault codes.
After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge calibration against the new cell and fixes inaccurate battery percentage display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Stream 7 5700 Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PR-3258128)

This 3.8V, 3000mAh (11.4Wh) lithium-polymer battery replaces the original PR-3258128 / 795065-001 cell in the HP Stream 7 5700, 5700ng, and 5709 tablets. It fits the 7-inch tablet platform used for web browsing and media playback. Dimensions are 126.50 x 58.60 x 3.30mm — the same footprint as the OEM cell.

  • Stream 7 5700 / 5700ng / 5709 fitment: All three variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell covers the entire 5700 sub-series without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Stream 7 platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, and charge termination triggered correctly at full voltage.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after installation: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before using it again. The Stream 7's fuel gauge IC calibrates against the old cell's profile — one full cycle resets it against the new cell and clears the inaccurate percentage readout that appears immediately after a swap.

HP Stream 7 shutting down between 15% and 25% remaining

The Stream 7 drives its display backlight and Wi-Fi radio simultaneously, and that combined load pulls voltage down sharply at the lower end of the charge curve. The battery management system reads that voltage dip as a near-empty cell and triggers an emergency cutoff before the percentage gauge catches up. This is more pronounced on an aged cell because internal resistance amplifies the sag. After fitting the new battery, completing a full calibration cycle — full discharge to shutoff, then full uninterrupted charge — brings the fuel gauge into alignment and pushes that cutoff threshold back to below 5%.

Fast charging not resuming after battery swap on the Stream 7

The Stream 7's charge controller uses a handshake with the charger on the first accepted cycle to confirm cell parameters before enabling higher charge rates. If you swap the battery and plug straight into a fast charger, the controller may default to standard rate until that handshake completes. Let the tablet complete one full charge cycle at whatever rate it accepts first. After that cycle finishes, unplug and reconnect — the controller re-negotiates and fast charge becomes available again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HP Stream 7 shows 40% battery but shuts off immediately under load — why?

The fuel gauge IC in the Stream 7 is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. When a new cell with different internal resistance goes in, the gauge reads voltage incorrectly and triggers a premature shutoff under display and Wi-Fi load. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff with the screen on and Wi-Fi active, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle resyncs the fuel gauge to the new cell's actual voltage floor.

The battery percentage on my Stream 7 jumps around after fitting the new battery — sometimes it reads 80%, then drops to 55% in minutes.

Percentage drift after a battery swap is a fuel gauge calibration issue, not a faulty cell. The onboard fuel gauge IC still holds the charge profile of the original battery and cannot map the new cell's discharge curve accurately until it runs a full reference cycle. Discharge the tablet fully to automatic shutoff, then charge continuously to 100% without unplugging mid-cycle. After that, the percentage readout stabilises and tracks correctly.

My Stream 7 feels warm near the back during charging after the battery replacement — is the new cell overheating?

Warmth at the back during the first few charge cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell is normal. The charge IC and the new cell negotiate charge rate and temperature limits during the initial cycles, and some heat is produced as the cell's internal resistance settles. We measured surface temperatures during bench testing and they stayed within the Stream 7's thermal spec. If the tablet becomes hot to the touch or the charge LED flashes unexpectedly, check that the connector is fully seated — a partial connection causes localised resistance and excess heat at the battery header.
