Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad 10 20E3 / 20E4 — 7.5V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SB10F46454)
This 7.5V, 4200mAh (31.5Wh) lithium-polymer battery fits the Lenovo ThinkPad 10 2nd generation tablet, including the 20E3 and 20E4 variants. It replaces OEM part numbers SB10F46454, SB10F46455, 00HW016, 00HW017, and 00HW018, among others. If your ThinkPad 10 2nd gen no longer holds charge or fails to power on, this cell is the direct swap.
- ThinkPad 10 2nd Gen platform fit: The 20E3 and 20E4 share the same 7.5V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single cell covers both model codes. The BMS communicates charge state over the same SMBus lines used in the original Lenovo cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad 10 20E4 chassis. The BMS accepted the charge handshake on the first cycle, reported voltage correctly to the system board, and did not trigger any firmware-level battery warnings during discharge.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that routinely appear after a battery swap on this platform.
ThinkPad 10 2nd Gen shutting down at 15–25% remaining
This tablet draws simultaneous load from the display backlight, WiFi radio, and CPU when in active use — combined, these push current draw high enough to hit a voltage cliff in a degraded or uncalibrated cell. The BMS reads the voltage drop as a critical low and triggers shutdown before the percentage counter reaches zero. With a new cell, this usually resolves after one full recalibration cycle. If it persists, check that the charge IC reached a confirmed 8.40V at the pack terminals at end of charge.
Fast charge not available after battery swap on ThinkPad 10 2nd Gen
The ThinkPad 10 2nd gen negotiates charge rate through the system board's charge IC, not through USB-PD alone. On first installation with a new cell, the charge IC defaults to a conservative rate until it completes one accepted charge cycle and confirms the pack's internal resistance profile. Run one full charge from below 10% to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the system board re-enables the higher charge rate for subsequent sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ThinkPad 10 2nd Gen is showing the wrong battery percentage after I swapped the battery — is that normal?
Yes, and it's caused by the fuel gauge IC still being calibrated to the old cell's capacity curve. The IC stores a learned model of the previous battery and applies it to the new one, producing skewed readings. Run one complete discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle resets the fuel gauge against the new cell and the percentage display stabilises.
The ThinkPad 10 2nd Gen tablet feels warm on the back while charging after the battery replacement — should I be concerned?
Warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new cell is normal. The charge IC applies a conditioning current profile to the fresh lithium-polymer cell, which generates more heat than a typical top-up charge on a broken-in battery. Surface temperature should stay below 40°C during this phase. If the back feels hot to hold or the tablet throttles the display brightness automatically, disconnect and let it cool before resuming the charge.
The replacement battery percentage drops fast from 100% but then slows down — what's causing the uneven drain curve?
This is fuel gauge drift — the system board's IC is mapping the new cell's actual discharge curve in real time and hasn't completed its calibration yet. The mismatch makes the top portion of the scale appear to drain faster than it should. It typically corrects itself after two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles. Run the tablet down to automatic shutoff each time, then charge fully to 100% without interruption to accelerate the calibration.
