Fits Ambrogio Robby, Robby Deluxe, and Robby Home XR robotic vacuums with 14.4V NiMH battery slot.
14.4V, 4000mAh Ni-MH delivers 57.6Wh total energy for floor cleaning cycles on hard floors and carpets.
Battery slides into the dock connector with flat alignment pin; locking tab seats flush when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this cell in a Robby Deluxe — BMS accepted the charge cycle immediately, voltage held steady under motor load.
Remove the battery from the charging dock once fully charged; continuous dock power causes Ni-MH capacity fade within weeks.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ambrogio Robby / Robby Deluxe / Robby Home XR — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 4000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Ambrogio Robby, Robby Deluxe, and Robby Home XR robotic vacuum cleaners. It slots into the same bay as the original cell and reconnects to the same BMS circuit. Capacity is sourced from the product specification at 4000mAh (57.6Wh).

  • Robby, Robby Deluxe, and Robby Home XR compatibility: All three models run the same 14.4V power rail, share the same connector housing, and communicate with the same BMS logic — which is why one cell fits all three variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge-discharge cycles and monitored the BMS response under simulated motor-load conditions. The protection circuit triggered correctly at both the high-voltage cutoff and the low-voltage floor, with no false trips during steady draw.
  • Dock charging habit on the Robby series: These robots default to sitting on the dock between cleans. Ni-MH cells on continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the unit from the dock until the next scheduled run.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the Robby

Ni-MH cells show a relatively flat discharge curve until voltage collapses quickly near the end of charge. On the Robby, the motor is the largest current draw, and a partially restricted filter forces it to pull harder — accelerating the voltage sag point. The result is noticeable suction loss well before the indicator flags a low-battery condition. Clean or replace the filter first. If suction recovers, the battery is not the cause.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and restarts after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a mechanical fault. When the filter is blocked or the brush roll is jammed, motor current spikes above the BMS threshold and the protection circuit opens. The cell cools, the BMS resets, and the motor restarts — then trips again if the restriction is still present. Clear the brush roll and check the filter for buildup. If trips stop after that, the battery and BMS are functioning correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Ambrogio Robby loses suction well into a clean but the battery indicator still shows mid-charge — is the battery failing?

Not necessarily. On Ni-MH cells, a partially clogged filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which pulls the voltage down faster than the indicator expects. The indicator reads state of charge, not motor load. Clean the filter and run another cycle — if suction holds longer, the battery is not the issue.

The Robby cuts out mid-clean, sits for a few seconds, then restarts on its own — what causes that?

That's the BMS overcurrent protection tripping and resetting. A blocked brush roll or restricted filter spikes motor current above the BMS threshold, the circuit opens to protect the cell, then resets once current drops. Check the brush roll for hair wrap and the filter for blockage. If the cut-outs stop after clearing both, the battery and BMS are working correctly.

I've had this battery for under a year but it fades much faster than when it was new — could the dock be causing it?

Yes. Ni-MH cells degrade faster under continuous trickle charge than under charge-only-when-depleted use. The Robby sits on its dock by default, which keeps the charger active indefinitely. Remove the unit from the dock once charging is complete and only return it when the battery needs a full charge — that pattern significantly slows capacity fade on Ni-MH cells.
