Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ETA 0449 Moneto Series — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (ETA0449)
This is a 14.4V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for ETA cordless stick and handheld vacuums in the 0449 range, including the 0449 90000 and 0449 Moneto. It slots into the original battery housing and connects to the same charging circuit as the factory cell. Capacity is 1500mAh (21.6Wh), matching the original specification.
- 0449, 0449 90000, 0449 Moneto compatibility: These three models share the same 14.4V battery rail, connector format, and BMS handshake. One cell covers all three variants — no wiring or adapter changes needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the ETA 0449 charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge handshake, held voltage through sustained motor load, and tripped overcurrent correctly on a blocked intake simulation.
- Dock charging habit for the 0449 Moneto: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock continuously between uses. The 0449's trickle charge keeps feeding the Ni-MH cell even when full, and that degrades capacity faster than normal cycling. Charge to full, then remove it from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the ETA 0449
The 0449's motor pulls significantly more current when airflow is restricted — a partially clogged filter can push draw well above normal operating load. The BMS reads this sustained overcurrent as voltage sag and begins throttling output before the indicator registers a low state. The result is a real drop in suction performance while the battery appears to still have charge. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers and the indicator reads normal, the battery is not the cause.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the 0449 motor encounters sustained resistance — heavy carpet pile, a blockage, or a clogged filter — current spikes sharply and the BMS shuts output to protect the cell. After a few seconds the BMS resets and allows current flow again. The fix is to clear the blockage or clean the filter before restarting. If the motor continues tripping on an unobstructed clean run, check that pack voltage under load holds above 12V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ETA 0449 Moneto loses suction well before I'd expect the battery to be low — what's happening?
A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, causing voltage sag at the battery terminals long before the charge indicator drops. The BMS interprets the high draw as a low-power condition and reduces output — the battery isn't flat, it's being overloaded. Remove and clean the filter thoroughly, then run the vacuum again. If suction returns to normal, the battery is fine.
The replacement battery on my ETA 0449 doesn't seem to hold as much charge as it did after the first few weeks — is that normal for Ni-MH?
If the vacuum is left on the dock between every use, that's the likely cause. The ETA 0449 charger continues to trickle charge a full Ni-MH cell, and that sustained low-level charge degrades cell capacity faster than regular cycle use. Ni-MH cells are better suited to charge-then-remove routines. From now on, charge to full and pull the vacuum off the dock — capacity should stabilise after a few full discharge and recharge cycles.
The ETA 0449 motor cuts out while I'm using it, then comes back on after a short pause — what triggers that?
That's the BMS tripping on an overcurrent spike, typically caused by a blockage or heavily restricted airflow through the brush head or filter. The BMS cuts output to protect the cell, waits a few seconds, then resets and allows the motor to restart. Check the filter, brush roll, and intake path for any obstruction before running again. If it keeps tripping on a clear floor with no blockage, measure pack voltage under load — it should hold above 12V.
